Two months have passed since the introduction of the Europa series . I wonder why nobody has registered any Europa at the Vatican City, yet. (Well, the Estonian user Kraan has indeed registered two Europa notes in the Vatican but there's reason to believe that he never was there…)

I read some Italian news informing that the Bancomat POSs (and supposedly also ATMs) were closed in the beginning of these year due to a conflict of law raised by Banca d'Italia. Deutsche Bank, who operated electronic currency transactions in the Vatican, had to shut off their operations. More recent news (February 12) inform that the services are back, although now provided by a Swiss company, Aduno.

What I'd like to know is if there is any ATM in the Vatican City. If the answer is positive, where is it?

Note: you may answer in Italian, I can read Italian easily (but I'm much faster writing English than Italian.) Thanks.

I am not sure 100% but for me no ATM in Vatican City, but more important in Italy ATM don't give out fivers

no. According to me there is not any ATM
but you can obtain euros from the Vatican City in four places:
1- a newspapers shop (and metro tickets shop) at the end of via di Porta Angelica

3- a books and gifts shop in piazza San Pietro (buildings on the left side of the square)
4- ticket office of the Musei Vaticani

I read somewhere that there is (there was?) an ATM inside the Musei Vaticani. Can anyone confirm?

presidente, I guess that there must be even fewer ATMs giving fivers than in Portugal.⁽¹⁾ But there are probably some. gabonik comments that he got this note from a Bancomat at a Cassa di Risparmio. Unless this is gabonik's mistake, I guess there could be some other Casse di Risparmio carrying .

I didn't find a ATM in Vatican City. You can get notes from Vatican Post and from the ticket office, souvenir shops and cafeterias in Vatican Museum.

You didn't answer my post about the first notes registered in the Vatican (where I stated I had reasons to question if you had really been there). That lack of answer made me swing more to the side of being skeptical about you. Then I found out that, although you have only four Europa notes in Italy, they include one very rare N/N and two rare U/U (first one here).⁽¹⁾ That made me even more suspicious.

So, because of a questionable decision you took in the past, you're being judged. Please accept my deeply ashamed apologies if I'm being unfair. If those are real registers you should definitely be taking big compliments, not reprimands.

mico, I believe you forgot the Farmacia Vaticana

If you want to consider Farmacia Vaticana, you have to notice that only people with a special permission can access to it (they are usually Vatican's employers); if you have the permission to enter in Vatican City, you can also receive money from the gas station (and the gas is very very cheap!!! ) or from a post office inside the city (where you can find ATM too)... But as I said, only Vatican's employers can access!

Hmm… That's not what I interpreted from what's written on that very linked page:

PERMESSO - Recarsi all'ufficio permessi muniti di un documento (C.I e/o Passaporto) e della ricetta medica relativa al farmaco da acquistare.

While the pharmacy is open to the public, non-Vatican employees must go through a special registry office when they enter Vatican City. There they must show a recent medical prescription and a valid ID to receive a temporary pass that allows them to head to the pharmacy.

As a Roman, do you say that getting those permits is not a trivial matter?

you're right, but I think the majority of trackers visiting Rome has not a medical prescription in their luggage

Do you realize you could easily be the first user to register consecutive Europa serials out of an ATM in San Marino? (That is, if San Marino's ATMs deliver .) You're close enough and at the moment there are only 2 Europa notes registered in San Marino, an S/S and a V/V, both entered by the Austrian user seebie.
