The New €20 Note

Post by tabbs »

... will be "unveiled" in February. :) See here: "The Eurosystem will unveil the new Europa series €20 banknote on 24 February 2015. The new banknote will include improved security features. (...) The ECB and the national central banks of the euro area – the Eurosystem – will unveil the banknote and announce its exact issuance date on 24 February 2015."

Edit - Sorry, the link above does apparently not work here. Try this one then ...

Time to collect all old 20€ notes before they are out of circulation and can't be found anywhere in UNC condition. :D

Well, yes, put some really nice ones aside, especially those with interesting serial numbers. :) But I hope that many of the "old" ones will continue to circulate for some more time ... (And thank you, avij, for making the first link work!)

I can't wait to get to see the new :note-20: because the notes of the Europa series are much more beautiful than the old ones - let's be honest, the design of the euro notes is not the best, so luckily the new notes have at least a bit better looking. :mrgreen:

Interesting to note that the Croatian abbreviation of the ECB (ESB) is still missing...

Wow, that's weird. What that suppose to mean? :|

At first, looking on new-euro-banknotes.eu I was little bit disappointed about the new design (I thought that this light blue is awful) but when I saw the notes in people's hands, the colors look pretty good. :mrgreen: And what do you think?

I think it's not very beautiful. The colour is odd, and the numbers are too big. But, when they are in circulation, I'm sure they will look like more normal for me too. I just like more the old serie banknotes, because they look like real money. The new ones are too colourful and modern, and they are not made from good paper.

Sorry but the old :note-5: and, especially, :note-10: look terrible. :| That horrible pink :note-10: color... :x The new design for them are much much MUCH better. However, I'm quite satisfied with the other notes, I mean the old :note-20: , :note-50: and so on...

You both are right :) Just finnish guy think, that money must look "unicoloured"
http://worldbanknotegallery.com/countri ... 98_obv.jpg
and lithuanian guy thinks about more colorful banknotes
http://worldbanknotegallery.com/countri ... 05_obv.jpg
Do you agree?
My personal opinion - they are beautiful and really have secure look. Big thumbs-up. Good job.

Well, I prefer a note with two matching colors, like :note-5: : grey and green looks really well http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... 5_euro.png" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But so many colors in :note-20: ? I don't think it's a good idea. :(
