Three Germans were caught trying to steal the "Fucking" village sign...
It has already been stolen 13 times but this time police caught the thieves...
The thieves carried special tools with them but failed...
for that reason they tried to dig it out...
police caught them in the act...
the municipality considers changing the name...
the Lower-Austrian village Fugging was also spelt "Fucking" some hundred years ago...
Wikipedia in English has a fairly long article about Fucking which explains why some tourists may be tempted to "grab" a sign as a souvenir. The name change story, however, seems to be a legend.

The Finnish town of Kokkola sounds very nice in Italian because coccola or coccole (the c are pronounced like k) mean cuddling in the sense mother/child but also lover/lover.
For an Italian, Kokkola sounds a very sweet and cozy place, where no child will cry
