Is intended with this thread to provide information about the meeting that will be organized in
Nürnberg, in 22/August/2026.
"Nuremberg is the largest city in Franconia and the second-largest city in the German state of Bavaria. Its 546,397 inhabitants make it the 13th-largest city in Germany. Lying in the Bavarian administrative region of Middle Franconia, it is the largest city and unofficial capital of the entire cultural region of Franconia."

Date
This meeting will be held in Nürnberg in 22 of August of 2026.
The main meeting day will be Saturday. Sunday is a "free day", and many participants can arrange the possibility of a pre-meeting on Friday night.
Getting There
- by Airplane: Nürnberg is served by an airport that is located 6 km north of the city center. The subway (line U2) runs at approximately every 10 min between the Airport and the City Center (timetable) and the single ticket ["Einzelfahrkarte - Price level A"] costs 3.65€.
- by Train: The main train station ("Nürnberg Hbf") i's well served by regional and fast trains (ICE). For connections and timetables: DB website.
Program
Friday (informal meeting day)
- 19:00: For the EBTers already in Nürnberg or that will arrive during the day, you can meet all together in a pub or downtown, for example;
Saturday
(Especially for the dothunter EBTers, I thought to split the day in 2 parts. Each participant can decide if would like to take part in the morning, in the afternoon, in both, just dinner, ...)
Morning — Lauf an der Pegnitz
• 09:00 — Meeting at Nürnberg Hbf (in the street, in front of the main entrance)
• 09:45 — Train departure to Lauf a.d. Pegnitz
• 10:00 — Arrival in Lauf an der Pegnitz with a city walk (example): Wenzelschloß, Historic Old Town, Pegnitz riverside and several ATMs opportunities
• 12:30 — Train back to Nürnberg
Lunch Time - 13:00–14:00 (this is personal free time. There are multiple options at Nürnberg Hbf)
Afternoon — Nürnberg
• 14:00 — Meeting at Nürnberg Hbf (in the street, in front of the main entrance)
• 14:45 — City walk visiting (example) Handwerkerhof, Lorenzkirche, Hauptmarkt, Kaiserburg.
– Optional museum visits (e.g., Albrecht‑Dürer‑Haus; Kaiserburg)
• 18:00 — Dinner at [restaurant] (menu link will be added) (and the location - I hope - it's in the area that we are visiting during the afternoon)

Nürnberg has 4 dots that are easy to get at less than 15 min (by public transport - U‑Bahn or S‑Bahn) from the main train station.
In this meeting, we intend to collect 2 of the them: the top right in Lauf an der Pegnitz and the top left in Nürnberg city center.

Useful Notes
• Both cities are within the VGN transport network
- The Single ticket ("Einzelfahrkarte") price level 4 costs 6.50 € (13.00 €/return);
- The Day Ticket individual ("TagesTicket Solo") doesn't cover the price level 4.
- The Day Ticket ("TagesTicket Plus") can be used and shared with other person. It costs 16.70 € (8.35€/each).
This ticket can be used the full weekend (Saturday and Sunday)• The DB tickets also work for Lauf a.d. Pegnitz
- Bayern-Ticket: 34.00 € for the entire day in all the public transport in the State of Bavaria;
It accepts until 5 persons in the same ticket (Total=74€/5_persons = 14.80 €/each);
