Introduction
Is intended with this thread to provide information about the meeting that will be organized in Nürnberg, in 22/August/2026.


"Nuremberg is the largest city in Franconia and the second-largest city in the German state of Bavaria. Its 546,397 inhabitants make it the 13th-largest city in Germany. Lying in the Bavarian administrative region of Middle Franconia, it is the largest city and unofficial capital of the entire cultural region of Franconia."

This post might be updated periodically. The provided times are to be used as reference only.
Ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Date
This meeting will be held in Nürnberg in 22 of August of 2026.
The main meeting day will be Saturday. Sunday is a "free day", and many participants can arrange the possibility of a pre-meeting on Friday night.

Getting There
- by Airplane: Nürnberg is served by an airport that is located 6 km north of the city center. The subway (line U2) runs at approximately every 10 min between the Airport and the City Center (timetable) and the single ticket ["Einzelfahrkarte - Price level A"] costs 3.65€.
- by Train: The main train station ("Nürnberg Hbf") i's well served by regional and fast trains (ICE). For connections and timetables: DB website.

Program
Friday (informal meeting day)
- 19:00: For the EBTers already in Nürnberg or that will arrive during the day, you can meet all together in a pub or downtown. For example Tucher Mautkeller (brewpub with own beer) or bierwerk (a bar with own beer + 120 beers);

Saturday
(Especially for the dothunter EBTers, I thought to split the day in 2 parts. Each participant can decide if would like to take part in the morning, in the afternoon, in both, just dinner, ...)

Morning — Lauf an der Pegnitz
• 09:00 — Meeting at Nürnberg Hbf (in the street, in front of the main entrance)
• 09:41 — Train departure to Lauf a.d. Pegnitz [station: "Lauf (links Pegnitz)" - line S1].
• 10:03 — Arrival in Lauf an der Pegnitz with a city walk (example): Wenzelschloß, Historic Old Town, Pegnitz riverside and several ATMs opportunities
• 12:13 — Train back to Nürnberg (line S1 from "Lauf (links Pegnitz)")

Lunch Time - 13:00–14:00 (this is personal free time. There are multiple options at Nürnberg Hbf)

Afternoon — Nürnberg
• 14:00 — Meeting at Nürnberg Hbf (in the street, in front of the main entrance)
• 14:45 — City walk visiting (example) Handwerkerhof, Lorenzkirche, Hauptmarkt, Kaiserburg.
– Optional museum visits (e.g., Albrecht‑Dürer‑Haus; Kaiserburg)
• 18:30 — Dinner at Bruderherz Nürnberg. It is reserved for "EBT / Fernando".

Info about dothunting
Nürnberg has 4 dots that are easy to get at less than 15 min (by public transport - U‑Bahn or S‑Bahn) from the main train station.
In this meeting, we intend to collect 2 of the them: the top right in Lauf an der Pegnitz and the top left in Nürnberg city center.

They can be verified at (for example) Deutsche Post website (location + street).

Useful Notes
• Both cities are within the VGN transport network
- The Single ticket ("Einzelfahrkarte") price level 4 costs 6.50 € (13.00 €/return);
- The Day Ticket individual ("TagesTicket Solo") doesn't cover the price level 4.
- The Day Ticket ("TagesTicket Plus") can be used and shared with other person. It costs 16.70 € (8.35€/each).
This ticket can be used the full weekend (Saturday and Sunday)

• The DB tickets also work for Lauf a.d. Pegnitz
- Bayern-Ticket: 34.00 € for the entire day in all the public transport in the State of Bavaria;
It accepts until 5 persons in the same ticket (Total=74€/5_persons = 14.80 €/each);

Info: I added the info about the Restaurant.

The Restaurant has a menu for groups. It can be consulted HERE (DE & EN).
It is a compilation of the "normal" menu. The "normal" menu can be consulted HERE (DE & EN).

The Restaurant said the following:
"It would be great if you could let us know your preferred dishes in advance. If not, we can also accommodate spontaneous requests on the evening itself."

If/when possible, please send me your options by private message.

I know nothing about "Umweltzonen" in Germany, and particularly in Nürnberg.
Some EBTers may drive by car to Nürnberg, and, if necessary, may have an "Umweltplakette" in order to drive in the Town center and avoid any fee (100€) .
Can we have all the informations about this issue ?

Hello Philgelico,

there is currently no low-emission zone (Umweltzone) in the city of Nuremberg. Therefore, you do not need a fine-dust or environmental badge to drive or park within the Nuremberg city area.

The closest to the hotel where you are staying and is in the way that you will reach Nürnberg (theoretically), I would suggest the P&R at Rothen­burger Str.

Glad to see a meeting near my front door! Unfortunately, the weekend doesn't fit to me, as I'm on the way to our long-time booked holiday home.

Some hints for getting notes in Lauf (sometimes the town is running a bit out of ):
On the Marktplatz in Lauf, there's usually on Saturday until noon a weekly market for regional products (fruits&vegetables, butcher, cheese, eggs and so on)
The Commerzbank ATM with , I hope there are enough inside, in recent months sometimes a bit short of . My last visit was 10/08, so hopefully it is plenty filled for you. Another ATM only for withdrawing up to 60x .
Sparkasse ATMs (like anywhere at Sparkasse Nürnberg) , note-choosing for Sparkasse cardholders, Deposits possible for customers of other Sparkasse 1,50 EUR
Two ATMs at Raiffeisenbank (cash-recyclers) with , sometimes a bit short of
A bit east of the old town, there's a small Postbank self-service area with 2 ATMs, , one of the two with possible deposit for Postbank + Deutsche Bank customers
HypoVereinsbank west of the old town

On the way back torwards Nürnberg, there are two Raiffeisenbank ATMs in Röthenbach an der Pegnitz, near to S-Bahn stop Röthenbach-Steinberg. Also often quite short of , but it could be worth a try.
And the next VR-Bank ATMs with in Schwaig, another two stops further, and opposite to the S-Bahn station. Usually plenty of !


Normally there's a second railway line to Lauf(rechts Pegnitz), but it is closed for maintenance at the August weekends. Bus replacement hourly .35 from Nürnberg to Lauf, .54 from Lauf to Nürnberg. On the way, near the replacement stop Rückersdorf West there's another Raiffeisenbank ATM with .
