Backstory: The Netherlands
is a country known for it's low issuance of 2 euro commemoratives. Excluding common-issue commemoratives, the Netherlands has only ever issued four 2€ commemoratives into circulation (in 2011, two in 2013, and one in 2014) - for comparison, Spain has issued 24, Germany has issued 30, and France has issued 31. This is quite a disappointment from a country with such a rich cultural and numismatic history - and is also a disappointment to many collectors around the eurozone, especially those from the Netherlands. 
As you may know, we started a similar initiative to convince Austria to restart their 2eur commemorative programme in March 2026. According to the Austrian Mint, this letter reached the right people and managed to sway some opinions when it came to restarting Austria's commemorative coin programme! Combined with Ireland and Cyprus restarting the regular issuance of 2eur commemorative coins, the Netherlands is the last eurozone country which does not issue any commemoratives regularly.
The goal of our letter is to sway some opinions at KNM/MvF. We are allowing anyone in the community to sign it to emphasize the number of collectors wishing for a new 2 euro commemorative. Hence, we've set up a public signature form. We have received 99 signatures as of the time I am writing this post.
As there is an overlap between the EBT and ECDS communities, I have decided to post our letter + the signature form here as well. It has already been translated into Dutch, and it will be sent to KNM/MvF by 29. September, 2026. Although we have tons of signatures already, every new signature still counts, and represents one fellow collector's wish for something new from Austria to find in circulation

Signatures will not be posted publicly by me or anyone in the ECDS, but what KNM/MvF does with the letter is outside of our hands.
