Question about moderation rules once again

Post by Finn »

I know this matter must have been discussed so much that most of you are sick of it but...

Dear hit-moderators, would you please explain me the rules how you moderate the notes.

Yesterday I got my very first totally random/honest/etc.(1) hit, today I found out it's been moderated :x It was in the same city, less than a week in between me and second person. At the same time you have kept very similar case, there's only been about 10 days more between entering it.

My hit was http://www.eurobilltracker.eu/index.php ... &id=553320 and the other is http://www.eurobilltracker.eu/index.php ... &id=525259.

I find this practice very frustrating and may stop doing this since it seems there's no reward coming. For last 10 months I've basically used cash only, but may be going back to cards and spend my time for something better...

I do understand it's difficult to decide which is an honest hit and which isn't. But I still would like to have same rules for all. I don't know how much time you spend on each decision, do you look at user details at all etc.

If the rules are available already, please direct me there, at the moment I don't feel like searching for them.

1) That you wouldn't need to ask, I've gotten hits earlier, eg. I sent a full set of Finnish coins to another EBT user and of course we got a hit from his payment.

I don't know how many moderators we have, but the fact there are several may explain why the rules are not clear (I think there aren't any, because I saw your hit and found nothing suspicious ... Moverover you are a regular user, with regular input, and few (or no) hits

I'm sure it will be unmoderated if you PM the webmaster

Hey Finn,

Looks a good hit to me. I've unmoderated it.

I only moderate bills that have one of these conditions:

* Woombelism (= Several hits within a few minutes between the same users/usergroups)

* A hit which is impossible Pe. Porto Jan10th 15u45- Helsinki Jan10th 15u55. A bill can't get in 10 minutes from Porto to Helsinki

Yes it's hard to all agree on what a hit is and it really is my fault if there are no guidelines for now. So I take the blame. I hope you won't stop using the site because of this though :( I(ll tyr to do it one of these days...

I've been thinking lately that we should probably recast this list as being a list of interesting hits and just count all hits but display only the intersting ones...

What do you all think ?

I disagree with this. I take pictures of most of the notes I deal with with my nokia 7650 and insert them in 100 batches on EBT when I have the time to. By the time I get the 100 notes and I post them, my first note may have gone a long long way. That proves people like me may have hits unfairly moderated.

Spreading EBT through my friends hasn't helped as well. We usually hang out together and sometimes we get each others notes without knowing it.

I want to add that I always look to the user-stats of the hitters too and then I decide to moderate or not. If i am in doubt, I don't moderate at all. I leave it to the other moderators to decide.

Believe me, it's hard to moderate, but I think us moderators doing a good job.

I really appreciate the work the moderators are doing. Usually all the postings here about moderators are negative so I thought that it's time to say that all of you are doing a great job and I understand how hard moderation must be sometimes and I believe most EBTers share this opinion

We have had so many hooligans the past few months, that without the work of the moderators, EBT would have been a complete mess, and eventually it would have died...

So, keep up the good work ... 8)

Hits that were moderated, can easily be unmoderated, if you have a reasonable explanation

Thanks for unmoderating the hit. I'm not going to comment more moderation guidelines here, there's more appropriate topic for that.

However, I got my second real/random hit, but with same person than the first one. I hope they won't be moderated this time, suspicious person might think there's something going on... :)

I think the first hit is not intersting (it's just a couple of days apart), the second one is intersting because it's many days away !
