I found today two strange notes:
A stamped one with the name L.Kats. (A rare P/Y note)
A note with an emailaddress written on it. I couldnt decipher all of it.

I think it is illegal in UK now to write on banknotes. They call it defacement.lazza wrote:When my father worked in a UK bank, this was common practice. A bundle of notes with a single note folded around it, with the total value of the bundle on the folded, outer note.
A lot of older GBP have some sort of writing on them, but it seems less common now.

I was very surprised to see the lady behind the desk was writting the amount of notes I gave her to exchange ON the notes themself !
Interesting that you mention... a few days ago some good conditioned 200 € notes went through my hands and on the only belgian includet was scribbled "6500" - maybe thats some kind of usual in Belgium? At least I've never seen such an "amount-entry" before...bhoeyb wrote:Yesterday, it happened again with a different lady behind the desk .
Unfortunaltely that bill was none of yours but so it seems they stay alive at all..
Today I received from the ATM of my bank a five euronote with some text written on it. There is written in Dutch: "lekker neukertje" with a signature under it. ( I don't know how to translate the text in English)
