Today i discover that a coin from Thailand just like a €2-coin is. I've got him back as €2-coin, bus is not more tham €0,15

Has everyone seen this before???

I know a man who operates vending machines. Those coins are a real nuiccanse to him. Many vending machines can't recognize whether the coin is 2€ or 20baht. The cheaper the product the "customer" "buys" from the vending machine is, the more the vending machine owner will lose money. That's because change money is real. While 2€ worth of change money really is worth 2€, the vending machine operator has to pay only, say, 1,50€ for a product that costs 2€.

My brother in Donegal, NW Ireland, got one of these before in his change as a €2... It was earlier this year.

I have got these too, once from wending machine, and once i bought coffee,and got one of these in change... that happened in year 2002, but never after that.

I got one in a €2 roll of a Finnish bank when I was on EBTM05!

Wow. That's really weird... there is done lot of work to get all machines working, but they didn't done anything to their own machines.

Ah yes, the 10 baht coin. I've heard this before but never tried it. I must have at least 50 of them at home from my trips to Thailand so that's about 100 euros free money

Though of course I'm too honest to do such a thing...

I only discovered it when I was back in Belgium. But that's no problem for me. I now use the coin for the lockers and shoppingcarts. I don't cheat with vending machines.

You probably should send the bank an email about that so they can fix the problem.

Actually most vending machines should recognize the 10 baht coins. The coin from Thailand is not magnetic, for example.

Other "problematic" pieces are the French 10 francs coins which have about the same size and color as the 1 euro pieces. Since these pieces have become worthless (except for collectors maybe), some may be tempted to use whatever they have left.

And then there are the new Turkish 50 kurus and 1 lira coins. So it does make sense to look at what you get in change ...
