Euro notes validity

Post by Guest »

Does anybody know if euro notes will keep their validity as long as US dollars do ? I mean, In America, people can get notes from 1970 in change when they buy a beer. Do you think it will be the case with the Euro ?

Notes from 1970 are very, very rare. 99% of the $1 and $5 $10 and $20 are from 1995 or 1999 dates (these are not the actual date they are printed, these dates indicate when the plates were changed, and this only happens when they change the design or we change sec of the tresury (his signature is on the bill)

the $50 and $100 notes last much longer since they are used less than the $1 which they say has an 16-18 month life span

Even if they are very rare, they still have legal tender... The question is to know if the notes that we currently have in our wallet will still have legal tender once there will have new designed euro bills. :?: (hum, 3 "have" in a raw, I've never seen that before  )

This is the same in Canada than in the USA. I got a 10$ bill of 1971! I can use it if I wish... but I keep it, it's a nice bill!

I wonder what will happen with the euros of 2002, in 30 years.

In Belgium when they used to switch to another design off bills all the old bills were taken out,
and if you still had one you couldn't use it after a certain amount of time afterwards they lost their value,
but you could still exchange it at the National Bank of Belgium,
same with the coins actually

They will be modificated in the near future for sure as Cyprus is not on the map and ECB text will be added in the new EU languages.

The question is will they change all the notes at the same time. :? If they don't, it'll be interesting to see how long will the old notes still stay in circulation. Then we'll see in reality how long will the notes last.

I can say if they decide to take out all the 2002 notes I'll be bloody disappointed!!!

Taking all those notes out of circulation would be a huge waste of money..
BTW, why isn't the ECB text currently in Greek in our notes? I don't understand. Feels kinda unfair to me..

I think the EKT at the top of the note is the Greek part.

Not to mention the waste of time and effort we used, to enter all those notes in EBT (and knowing they can never be hit again).:(
Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years.
