How do you mark your notes?

I always do it on the back, at the side.

What's the front and the back ?

Apart from big design differences, on the front is the serial number, and on the back the short number.

Edit: Somebody turned the question of what's the front into a poll of itself. In response to that I took another close look at some bills, and I'm considering the short number side the front after all.

But, since I can't edit the poll, let's just stick to what I said up here for the moment

I don't do it anymore. I think I have marked ten to twenty bills. Than I read here on the forum that the banks take these bills out of circulation. So I stopped with marking.

I only mark the written and dirty bills, because their lifetime is already
very short.

Nowadays i mark the notes with a very small dot over the EU flag, if I bother marking them.

I mark my notes with a small dot in the right side upper corner on the "short-code side".

I'm just wondering if it effects on the lifetime of the notes. The dot is very small but visible.
