The bill with the spot
Today I went to hire a film. I received one bill with a spot. So I thought I'm going to make a poll about that, with the question is it a hit or not. Tomorrow Saturday the 16th I shall enter the bill after 13 o'clock in the afternoon Belgian time (I think 14 o'clock Finnish time). After that I'm coming with the answer.
I think yes

Yes I've written it to in comment that there was a spot on. Maybe the next one who enters it will write that to in the comment. But I think when the bank gets the bill, the bill will be taken out of circulation. These dotted notes were that mostly 5€ notes? Can you remember that?bhoeyb wrote:I had voted 'no' too so I was right.
Yes, I've seen dotted notes too, even notes with a strange -arabic?- stamp. If a note looks dotted to me -or it's stamped-, I write it as a comment. You never know which EBTer dottes his bills. When it's a hit, we know![]()

I've seen exactly one note with probably the same arabic (or Sanskrit?) stamp. Too bad I didn't take a picture of it. It seems to have been an Italian 20€ note. Still, no EBT hit.bhoeyb wrote: Yes, I've seen dotted notes too, even notes with a strange -arabic?- stamp. If a note looks dotted to me -or it's stamped-, I write it as a comment.
I even got it from an ATM so this proves that at least in Finland, even heavily marked notes can get redistributed. I don't know whether the note has been through the central bank though. ATM notes may come from private sorting facilities.

The stamp on my bill was prox. 0,5cm x 1cm. I can't remember the value. I don't have a picture eigthernomead wrote:I've seen exactly one note with probably the same arabic (or Sanskrit?) stamp. Too bad I didn't take a picture of it. It seems to have been an Italian 20€ note. Still, no EBT hit.

Today I had a double dotted note too. It was a 5 one. The first dot was above the signature, the second above the portal on the same height than the top of the 5. The dots are very faint, I almost overlooked them.
I remember having dotted notes from time to time. But I think they are very easily overlooked. Anyway when I see dots I mention it in my comments.

Bank clerks and other people who handle lots of cash often make rolls of notes after counting them, and they write the number on the first note in the roll.
With lira there was a sort of tradition to write short thoughts on 1.000 lire notes (after all, they were only worth 52 eurocents). Some books were printed collecting such short thoughts.
A popular one was a good luck promise... provided you copied the same text on at least 10 other notes.
These pearls of wisdom are less frequent on Euro notes - after all, the smallest note denominated in euro is 10 times more expensive than the old 1.000 lire note.
I rarely see them now.
But I do have a rubber stamp which says "please record this bill on www.eurobilltracker.com" (in italian), and I hope it will increase my hits

If you hadn't seen the spot, you would have entered the number anyhow.querty wrote:Today I went to hire a film. I received one bill with a spot.
