Interesting Hits Wish List

Post by jjoensuu »

Some changes that I would like to see relating to the Interesting Hits section are:
1. the option to sort bills according to the amount of times it has crossed a national border
2. the option to sort bills according to the total distance between the points where the bill was spotted
3. the option to jump directly to the first and last pages of the Interesting Hits
4. a link from the "Interesting Hits" text located at the upper right corner of the screen (Under the heading "Total") directly to the Interesting Hits page

...and how about the option to see the most hits per person, i.e. who has entered most bills that have also been entered by someone else?

I mean, in my (humble) opinion the Interesting Hits section is the most interesting area of the site and it would be cool if it was possible to glean more info about the bills there.

cheers,

Jarmo

Showing the hits per person is somewhat problemous. It could very easily encourage people to cheat somehow to be seen there. It would anyway be muuch easier to climb on that list by cheating than on the amount of notes -list. Right?

yup, that part (about cheating) is of course true in that it could be a temptation...

interesting hits

It really would be nice if the interesting hits could be ordered according to distance or crossing borders. It's a bit disappointing when you click on some "interesting hit" and the bill was found in the same town...

I think it would be interesting indeed if the hit-distance would be shown. That's not that difficult to implement. The other options would be more problematic, I think.

I fully support Dakkus. I haven`t not yet finished your sentence regarding the sort according to the number of interesting hits when I thought that this will encourage people to "create" interesting hits. With some creativity this would be so easy.

Actually it would be difficult, the query to compute the distance is complicated as it approximates distances when the zip code is not available

Furthermore, how would we rank bills with multiple hits ?

I haven´t thought about the last point. I understand it´s a bit more difficult then I had mentioned before...

Some other point: would it be possible to get a seurch-field in the rackings screen in wich you can enter a city-name, so that you can sort the list on city? I think it would be very interesting to see how many active people there are in your surrounding!!

Just an idea...

Most traveled and most sluggish notes

Post by lmviterbo »

Indeed, I would love to see bills ordered by distance, from the most traveled to the least traveled one (that is, from the farthest hit to the closest).

After manually checking just the last 60 interesting (moderated) hits or so, I found this bill to have traveled 617 km. Any better candidate to best globe-trotter?

BTW, when it comes to multiple hits, I think the most interesting distance to keep in this putative list is the total distance traveled, that is the sum of partial distances. Amongst the 3-times hits, this would be the winner, with 303 + 330 = 633 km.

It would be pretty neat if it were possible to list the hits by time too, from the most sluggish to the fastest note (ie, from the longest interval between entering dates to the shortest one).

I think you entered the wrong URL because this is no hit.

I don't know if they are real but there are some hits with the USA and Canada. Here they are:

Ah, look at all the lonely Euronotes. Where do they all come from? (The Beatles, Eleanor Rigby)
