Do you smoke?

Post by Olivier »

Source : "7 Jours Europe", n° 474, 3-6-2002.

in english:
30% of Europeans smoke. 10% more than in the USA.
1/3 of the EU population aged 15+ smokes every day. 41% for the Europeans aged 15 to 24.
There are more young smokers in France and Spain, less in Sweden and Portugal.

I belong to the 59% of the Europeans aged 15-24 who don't smoke,
because I have astma. Smoking should be forbidden!

When you are in a pub you can also have fun with some beer (not to
much though). According to me smoking is the same as drinking too much
beer and then puking it over other people, because with smoking you are
bothering other people with the smoke you breathe out.

So nodisch18, stop smoking and start drinking!

I gave up smoking 7 years ago, january 1 1996. I used to smoke quite a lot, up to 20-25 cigarettes a day, for more than 20 years. I never smoked a single cigarette since.

I used to smoke every day, but now I only smoke in parties or in pub. Now when I dont smoke anymore at work, it´s even more fun to smoke on free time.

Same for me ... I smoke less than 1 package a year. For me, it's the same as alcohol: because you drink a beer sometimes, you're not addicted to alcohol.
Because 'sometimes' is not an option in the poll, I had to vote 'yes' :? .

I used to smoke 20 - 30 cigarettes per day, now I've been almost five months without smoking (tobacco  ).

It's easier to me to stay without smoking than to smoke max 5 cigarettes per day. I either smoke like a Turk or not at all.

I haven't had any problme in staying without smoking in a pub. I just drink more beer than before... The amount of bad habits stays always constant.

Yes, I do smoke. About 15-20 cigarrettes a day (I smoke hand-rolled tobacco, so it makes no sense talking about packs). I've tried to quit twice and I failed.

I smoke, but I'm trying to keep it less than 10 cigarettes a day. You can't survive life.

I don't smoke, I never did and I never will...
I really hate smokers, when they smoke when I'm with them.
I can't breath, my eyes start to hurt and water, I really don't like it.
I can't even go to a restaurant or a pub, or I'm smoked out.

One of the few things I really liked in America were the smoke-free public spaced and restaurants.
Here in Belgium most restaurants have seperate non-smoking areas aswell, but most of the time you still smell the smoke or some people just don't obey the rules and smoke anyway. I really can't enjoy my meal if some jerk is smoking next to me or even in the same room as me.

They're not only killing themselves, but also others around them, including me. Although I don't drink it myself, I've got no problems with people drinking alcohol (Unless they go driving ofcourse). They don't disturb me with their habits and don't force me to drink the waste of their drinks (pee :p). Smokers do!

I fully agree with this!!!

(although the 'not-drinking' part is a different story :P But never in combination with driving!)
