Mint rolls....

Post by Tiger » Thu Jun 06, 2002 8:38 pm

Many people are asking for mint rolls of a certain coin,
but what is so special about it ?
Why are so many people collecting mint rolls of those coins ?

I'd like to know :)

Thx!

Aren't mint rolls the ones with fresh coins coming straight from the mint, as their name implies? They have a certain remark printed on the paper and contain all shiny new coins...

hmmmz
and where do you get them ?
because when my dad gets rolls with coins from the bank, there are often some foreign coins in it... so I think they don't come straight from the minting thingie :)

I just saw a shopkeeper handle a couple of rolls. Some of them had something like "German Mint" printed on the paper in big letters. I don't know where to get them. In my city I would try to ask at the "Landesbank", a more government-related kind of bank.

I also thought of buying rolls from the bank to take a look inside and then changing them back at another bank :)

Just ask for a roll of coins at the bank, and if you're lucky, they'll give you a fresh roll (coins in a paper roll). If you're not, they have only used coins in a plastic bag of roll.
This a hint when you're a collector of foreign coins
Anyway, that's the situation in Belgium ...
