HELP! HELP! HELP QUICK!!
My car was stolen in Detroit last Sunday and I had large denomination (500) Euro bills in it along with my passport.
(I know it wasn't the smartest thing to do, but I don't put all my trust in banks or the dollar so it was like an investment)
Now the car was recovered Tuesday stripped bare, but the money is gone.
I know Euros have some sort of metalic strip on them.
Is there ANY way those Euros can be tracked????????????

Thanx for your response.
Damn......
I didn't.
But I didn't even know about this site until a few minutes ago!
Who.....besides law enforcement......would think to enter the serial numbers of money?
Damn again..........
I'm thinking I could put out some sort of alert to be on the look out for anyone trying to use or exchange those Euros.
Can't those metallic strips be tracked or something?

Listen, I'm from Detroit and know Detroiters pretty well.
MOST people in Detroit (the inner city) have no idea of what Euros even are, let alone have them in possession.
This isn't Europe or some big tourist spot where Euros are floating around all over the place.
My Euros were stolen by weed smoking (from the evidence found in the car) car thieves.
Chances are:
1. Although they have the object I hid them in, they didn't find the actual Euros yet.
or
2. They found them but haven't tried to exchange them yet.
or
3. They threw the object and them away thinking it was worthless.
Now either way, I'm thinking some sort of device that can track ANY type of Euro regardless of denomination would be helpful in my situation.

you do realize there's a time difference between the US and Europe ?Ray wrote:No more responses, this is what I was afraid of.
the only thing you can hope for is that a money-exchange office gets alerted by the fact they suddenly have to change a huge number of €-notes.
there's no other way to recover your money i'm afraid. I don't suppose thieves are gonna be foolish enough to start registering the notes on this site.

why spam? what does he advertise???
he is shocked by losing his money and thinks, there could theoretically be a way to find euro notes by the metallic strip.
Ray, I don't think you can "find" these strips in hidden objects, like finding gold coins in the ground with metal detectors. These are not RFID tags, which have been discussed to be put into money, but most people are against it because it would be possible for burglars with detectors to find out how much money you have in your pocket.
But if you inform the police, they could probably inform all exchange offices to check if the notes they get smell like weed

I'm not registered in any tracking program because I didn't know Eurobills could actually be registered at the time, I now know AFTER the fact.

But I was thinking that maybe the Euros could be found by their foil like tags like you described finding coins.
Oh well.........
I'm just hoping the good Lord blesses me to get the money and passport back and/or possibly give the thieves a heart to return my items.
Yes I understand there's a time difference, but I thought there may have been enough people viewing who could offer solutions.you do realize there's a time difference between the US and Europe ?

Listen, I'm already having enough misfortune without you trying to set up roadblocks and "lock" me out of any solutions. Is this spam; under what city is he/she registered? Time for a lock i suppose.

Well most of the times I've acquired Euros people took down my information whether it was at a bank or currency exchange place.Ray, I don't think you can "find" these strips in hidden objects, like finding gold coins in the ground with metal detectors. Ray, most likely the thief will try to change the euros to US dollars. If I were you, I'd tell nearby banks and money exchange companies the exact number and value of the euro banknotes you had. If I were the criminal, the most likely place I'd change the money to USD would be international airport. I hope you get this thing solved.
