Making the most of your Euro - mainly for the Irish

Post by Bebbo »

Tomorrow is "buy nothing day".

This is where you try spend as little as possible. This will hit retails totals for the day. Proving that we can hirt them if they don't stop ripping us off.

See the following site : http://www.buynothingday.co.uk/

An other site for the irish to look at is : http://www.ripoffireland.org/index.php

This one is where you can highlight issues about high prices ect. They have a good section of on-line stores that are cheaper (considerably) than buying on the hight street.

Since the introduction of the Euro it has been used this as an excuse to up their prices.

We had a similar price hike in Italy.

Many retail prices nearly doubled!

Most people blame it on the Euro while the government tries to claim that our inflation is really around 3%

Before the euro 1,5 litres of Pepsi cost a bit over 9mk (~1,60€). Now it cost a bit over 2€. So quite a grow in the price.
A bar of chocolade used to be about 7,90mk (1,30€). When the euro came, the price went to 2,00€ or 2,10€. Nowadays they're as "low" as 1,79€. Not nice at all.. Gräägh.
But of course the euro didn't affect the prices, of course, of course.

1,25 Euro in Portugal for the 1.5litres Pepsi, and 0,60Euro for a Twix or a Kit Kat..

of course this can vary a lot, deppending on the place you buy.. but my last shopping of these items was at these prices..
