This "bird of prey" is called "Fette Henne" (fat hen), because it looks rather overweighted in comparison to the eagles on previous Deutschmark coins. This chicken is hanging around in the parliament as a sculpture made of gypsum. The eagles on German money have changed in design over the last hundred years. They became more well-fed looking, while the older ones looked more hungry and aggressive.

I have some old German coins, and to be honest, I like the current designs of the 1 and 2€ coins the most !

(Are it eagles ? I'm not sure what kind of bird

as to the elegant, yes I really loved 2000 escudos note...

another beautifull note of the eurozone was the 1000 dracmas

but this 1000mk are nice too

, I said that I never saw any, but it was in my hands, I've already seen some pics, and that with the swams it's really lovely

The Germans usually stick to eagles (although the thing on the 2e coin resembles a heater)
