Hey,
Another great EBT-year is getting to the end. It has become a tradition that at the end of the year, we are looking for a new place to hold next years official eurobilltrackermeeting.
In this topic, you can volunteer to organise EBTM07. This topic will be closed end of december, so that in january we can (if necessary) filter out candidates and put them up for a vote in the Meetingforum.
Requirements/conditions/guidelines for organisers
* Two organisers or more. One will appointed as the main-organiser
* The main organiser is at least 21 years old
* The main-organiser should be able to communicate in English
* At least one of the organisers should have participated in an official international Eurobilltrackermeeting
* At least one of the organisers should live in or know the city very well where the event will take place
* At least one of the organisers should have organised a national EBT-meeting
Requirements/conditions/guidelines for candidate-city
* The city should have a certain touristic appeal. International EBTM-participants will stay for more than one day. They should be able to see more things than they will see on the meetingday. (Touristic examples: Museums, touristic happenings or events, statues, old buildings/churches/castles or other touristic siteseeings, animal zoo, themeparc, concerts, boat or ferrytrips...)
* The city should be located near an international airport.
* The city should have a railroadstation, preferrable an international railroadstation
* There should be youth-hostels nearby where people can stay cheap
* There should be a few restaurants which are able to have a large group of people eating there or two/three restaurants located near eachother which can handle some smaller groups.
* The city has a national bank which can be visited by EBTM-participants or has some sort of euro-related place to visit (Examples: europarlement, money-museum, ... ). This will be considered as a bonus and not that important at all.
Remember this a checklist. If a candidate doesn't match any of these conditions, they still can be a candidate to organise an official international eurobilltrackersmeeting.
Still, the more requirements a candidate-organising team has, the more credibility the candidacy has.
Candidates place your candidacy here in this thread before end of december (31/12). If you do so, give us the name(s) of the organising team, the city you want to organise EBTM07 in and the dates that you can organise it. A detailed schedule of the event is not needed, the big lines are appreciated.

Grob-e, hadibe and I would herewith like to announce our readiness to host the international EBTM07 in Berlin.
Similiar to the last meeting in Amsterdam we thought of making it a three day event. After gathering in a restaurant/pub on the first evening we would have sightseeing on the second (main) day, possibly a boatstour through the city. We will also try to organise some euro-related event, either with the Bundesbank or Bundesdruckerei, but of course there is no guaranty that we will succeed. What would be possible in any case is a visit to the Staatliche Münze Berlin (the german mint that produces all coins with letter 'A') but we would have to have the main meeting day during the week to get a tour there. (The same probably applies to the Bundesbank as well) On the last day we would, after a joint breakfast, offer a little tour, perhaps to Postdam. (Sans Soucis)
We all are older than 21 years, have a good working knowledge of English and live in Berlin since several years, if we were not even born here. Hadibe and myself participated in the EBTM06 in Amsterdam, grob-e and I organised the German EBTM06.
Berlin fulfills all of the listed requirements, so I am not going to address all points of the city checklist in detail. If in doubt, please ask.
Just let me mention that prices in Berlin are still reasonable, at least compared to other major cities in Europe, especially concerning accomodation costs.

The French Forum is happy to announce Paris as candidate city for EBTM2007.
The organising team is compoused of : l’€urop€€n, KARR, Vévé, l’Ardéchois & Phaseolus. Both Vévé and Phaseolus have participated to the Amsterdam EBTM06 event. Phaseolus was co-organisator of the French EBT-meeting in Paris in March 2006, which gathered more than 20 participants from 4 different countries.
Paris can be reached easily from all over Europe by plane (with two airports) and by High-Speed Train (Thalys, Eurostar and the new TGV Eastern-line to Strasbourg and Luxembourg). Public transportation is very easy and cheap in Paris with a very efficient Metro, bus system and new tram lines.
The bid for Paris2007 is based on a two-days event ; we intend to organise this EBTM2007 at the end of August 2007. The second part of August is always very enjoyable in Paris : less crowded and not too hot. We would preferably go for the last weekend of August which would allow a large local attendency.
For our international guests, we have decided to build our bid on two themes :
On Saturday, we will visit Paris "at the top" ; and by "Top" we mean that we aim to let you see Paris from the Tour Eiffel, Tour Montparnasse, Arc de Triomphe and La Grande Arche
On the Sunday we will organise a "Amélie Poulain"-thematic trip. We'll be honest with you : you will not be guided around by Audrey Tautou, but we intend to show you the Cemetery of Père Lachaise, Pigalle and La Butte Montmartre
We will plan alternatives trips if the weather would not allow extensive outdoor activities (by alternative activities, we aim a Boat trip on the Seine river or a visit of the Catacombes, etc...)
Obviously, we will try to find cheap accomodation solutions for the youngsters and students. Please note that the price of the activities might exceed the participation cost that was asked at the Amsterdam event ; but we will try to cut prices down as much as possible. (But, you know, "Paris, c'est Paris"
)
Hope to see you in Paris2007
