Moderated hits disappeared in my hit list

Post by tralla »

Hi all,

when I login to the site, my hit list used to show me all my hits (moderated and unmoderated). Right now, I see only the unmoderated ones.

I did read the announcement that interesting hits will be made public automatically and think it's a good idea. However, the personal lists for every user ought to show all hit data. Can you reenable that complete list? TIA

Okay, your're right but just a little hint might be in order? Or am I the only one who didn't see the obvious?

Thanks anyway for the fast reply!

Moderated hit

Post by Beatminister »

I´d like to use this thread to request why the hit
http://www.eurobilltracker.eu/notes/?id=29352397
was moderated out from the list.

Same as the the hit http://www.eurobilltracker.eu/notes/?id=29356863
I spend the note in local shops, and both were picked up by MEFISTO from Dresdener Bank again.
I wonder whats wrong with that?

I normally wouldn´t make a fuzz about it, but I have now waited full 4 month for a hit, and myself and Herford are not exactly swimming in hits.

I would greatly appreciate it if you reevaluate this hit and reinstate it, since there is nothing wrong with it.

Thanks!

See http://forum.eurobilltracker.eu/viewtop ... 240#358240 , the situation and the procedure is the same.

Ok, I see...
Nevertheless it´s not much relief for me, nor is it very helpful for the EBT project as such.
You basically make random changes in the statistic, and thereby damage its validity. Even worse: if EBT should become a popular and wide spread hobby as we all wish, the occurance of 0 day, 0 km, and bundled hits will increase a lot. What are you gonna do then? Kick them all out?

Sure I also understand that you have to take measures again fraudulent entries by people who swap notes ect, to boost their figures. But as it´s not the case with the note in question, it should be in our common interest to rectify its status - thats why I adressed the case here.
If you are still not convinced of its legality, or just think half a statistic is better than none - thats ok with me, its your site.

You've missed the point. The hits, that are showed to all, are not "valid hits" or "legal hits" they're "interesting hits". And while a bundle of real hits might be interesting to you they're not interesting to the majority of users here and that's why they get moderated.

But don't worry: if one of the moderated hits is found again, it's a new track so it becomes an "interesting hit" again.

Yeah, the moderated hits aren't gone forever. The only difference between moderated and unmoderated hit is that moderated ones aren't shown to other people.
I personally am not very interested in seeing five or ten similar hits in a row when browsing the hit listing.
The moderated hits exist for you just as well as the unmoderated ones.

And BTW, welcome to the forum Beatminister. You seem like an active user. Since you easily open your mouth when you see something interesting, you're a great addition to the forum :)

Thanks for the welcome, Dakkus - I have been briefly on this forum before, though. But not as much as you... :)

I am aware that the moderated hits are not simply deleted - else my reaction would be somewhat stronger, believe me!
Also I understand that it would be boring to have rows of identical hits in the overall hit listing, eventhough I guess it will hardly be more than 4 or 5 identical hits at a time - anything more does look pretty suspicious IMHO. In my case the bundle of boring hits consists of 2 (!) notes, btw.

What I´m saying really is, that those "uninteresting" hits not only disappear from the main hit list, but also not show in my personal stats and the stats of my home town. Don´t know about the total hit count.
I officially have 5 hits now, and my town has 15 - so 1 more or less does make a difference for me.
I reckon the core of the problem is the criteria "interesting" - what is interesting, and to whom? For me every hit I have is interesting, even if its inside my town. On the other hand I can well handle my excitement if I see a hit between two finnish towns I never heard of before, and cannot even pronounce their names. ;)

Moderated hits cannot be seen in the city-profiles but you get a list of your own by going to your hit-list and choose "moderiert" in the checkbox on the right side.

By the way, thanks for this nice regional hit and a warm welcome to the EBT-Forum also from my site, it's nice to see the activity in OWL is growing 8)

Thanks for the welcome!

Yes, I know its not deleted completly, as I said. Yet the points I criticised remain - well, never mind.

I´ve seen you are one of the "high rollers" in our region, and I expected more hits with you really, but its like bewitched at times: I had no hit during the past 4 month (in which I entered over 700 notes) and now I have 3 hits inside 1 week!

Yes, tracking activities in our region are not so great - it seems the people here in Herford get less money in their hands than a average street child in Brasil. :)
