Hope it is OK to post this here even though it is not exactly about tracking euro notes. A while ago I read a discussion about an American "counterpart" of EBT - http://www.wheresgeorge.com - and wanted to look something up now.
But I cannot reach that site any more. Did not work yesterday, has not worked today so far - all I get is a "Forbidden" error. Does anybody perhaps know what is going on there?
It works for me from here, but recently I was visiting a friend and tried to access the site from there and got an error also.
I read the forums there and it seems quite some IP-addresses and -ranges are blocked because of continuing abuse. Maybe your IP address is just off-limits.
I was able to access the forums from my friend's. http://forums.wheresgeorge.com/ Hopefully you won't get a 'forbidden' error there...

Actually that worked, thanks! So apparently whoever operates the main Where's George site ("www", not "forums") blocks an entire range of T-Online's IP addresses, or maybe even all of them. Clever. Ah well, as long as I can access EBT, I'm fine ...
For what I know Where's George is banning all non-US IP address (.de, .fr., .uk, .it and so on), only the providers with .com can still have access (I can access from home (.it) but I do it from work (.com))

I don't believe that's the case, especially since my "resolved address" ends in ".nl". They do use "elephant measures" but I guess the implications are not THAT big as they still get quite a number of international hits.

Same here in Italy, maybe the entire range of Italian ISPs adresses are blocked.
Anyway I can reach WG at work.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

What a great idea... especially after they've enabled to specify locations from Germany (and probably other european countries) recently before...
Has someone already complaint about this in the WG-forum (haven't found something there on first attempt)?

I don't know where debemaks got that information from (or is it rather a theory?) but I have tried several computers hooked to various German internet service providers (Versatel, O2, Arcor, T-Mobile) and I had no problems surfing WG with any of them.

Hi Helloggs, it's just a theory, I've noticed from my home (Tele2 .it provider) as well as from other .it provider (Alice, Libero, etc..) there is no way to access to WG, while at work I'm under a .com domain and I got no problems at all.
I reply it's only a theory...

Admittedly I became curious after the first responses here and made a few little tests. So far I have not been assigned a single IP address (t-online.de, dynamic allocation) that would work with wheresgeorge.com - so I think it is fair to assume that WheresGeorge blocks them all. Using a phone/MDA browser (via T-Mobile DE) however, it works ... but that would be a little expensive due to my pricing plan.
However, this is not really a big issue for me; guess I can easily live without knowing where George is. I just hope that EBT will not start shutting all customers of major ISPs out that way.
