Go the new EU members for vacations?

Post by Olivier »

Have you ever gone to one of the 10 new members?
I wonder which countries are nice to go on vacations to...

I've seen Poland, but it was 15 years ago. I visited Tchecoslovaquia just before the country split off...

Is Estonia nice? What about Riga? And Slovenia?

Ah! I know Malta. It's nice but, on my opinion, the island worths only half a week. It's very small...

Don't visit Malta. Hunters shoot every bird down which flies over Malta. Just for fun. The government doesn't stop those hunters  .

Geboortejaaj  Geboortejaar = Year of birth
Woonplaats = Living place (for you this would be Tampere.)

Hi!

If you decide for Slovenia, you can check some basic info here:
www.slovenia-tourism.si

Slovenia is pretty small, but we have almost everything here:) Coast, Alps, glacier lakes, rivers for rafting, karst caves, many options for hiking, capital Ljubljana, many spas....

And if I have understood right, the EU won't do anything to stop this.

i visited Czech republic, Slovenia & Slovakia

I liked Slovenia best, it's a small country which has mountains, Mediterean sea, and it's the most forrested country in europe (more than finland !). Also nice is that the country hasn't been really ruïned by mass-tourism.

In Slovakia, i like the East part best. The cute high Tatra Mountains (Alpine mountain chain, but you can see the beginning and the end, which is a bizarre sight) and the NP slovak Paradise. Also nice are some really beautiful small cities.

In Czech, i only visited Prague. nice city, but too many tourists.

I visited Slovakia a year ago. The ice hockey championships were also going on at the same time in Finland, and the Slovaks got the bronze medals there. The funny thing was that I visited the ice hockey museum in Bratislava at noon the day after that match and the prize they had won was already put on display in that museum! The museum guide didn't speak English or German so I put my basic Russian into use and understood that the ice hockey team had returned to Bratislava quite late at night, but the first thing they did back home was to bring the plate to the museum :D . (And what on earth was I doing in a ice hockey museum, you might ask. Well, I was tricked. It was inside of a large castle which held other museums and displays as well - if I remember correctly, there was a museum for music instruments as well.)

I visited Estonia 10 years ago and will travel there "again" in a couple of weeks (hopefully). Interesting to see how things have changed.
