I guess it depends on wether the official guy
-likes or dislikes the dutch
-is lazy enough not to send the letter.

Finally after 6months and 2 weeks (if my information is still correct) the speeding ticket can't be persecuted anymore IF you have NOT received any bill §31 OWiG (german law)

And if any of the dutch drivers here feels a need to overtake on the right hand side: Use the emergency lane on german autobahns - not the normal lanes. This procedure may save you 25€ and one point :)

All I can do is wait and hope for the best....
Has anyone an idea of how long it usually takes to get such a message?

Well I think the expected value is something between 4 and 6 weeks if the car owner is german. Maybe some days/weeks longer if the owner is from abroad. Do not expect the bill to come before two weeks after the incedent - at least these are german officials which have to put at least 37 stamps on 23 different sheets of paper. The time can be longer or shorter as well.

For anyone who likes to drive in germany I can recommand this page (german only)- it shows stationary flashboxes at the roads. At least some help to know where to break ;)

Still waiting for mail from Germany, well... not really 'waiting'
I'd be happy if I never receive it, but I wonder what will happen if I go dothunting in Germany one day, and a police officer tracks my license plate.....

Well, possibly they won't even try to get the holder's name for your car...

I think if you do not get mail, it is no problem if you ever come back to Germany.
But if you get a letter and do not pay, it could become a problem if the German police checks you.

If you have not received the bill after 6months and 2weeks there is no more legal possibility to write it. So even if you come back then it won't be a problem. But if you do receive the bill within that time and do not pay - ok they may get your money by stopping your car...

Today I got a letter from Germany. If I will be so kind to pay € 35
Only 1 letter, only in German. I don't understand some parts of it....
I should ask for more information in English or Dutch, but I can't read how to do that...

What luck you were not in Finland....

Well, you could write to them, indicating the "Aktenzeichen" or what reference else. You may use the sender's adress, and maybe there is also a name of an "Bearbeiter" or "Sachbearbeiter" or so. In the adress you mention "zu Händen von" and then this name.

Such, your letter should arrive.

I do not know, however, how they will tackle the linguistic problem. It is, after all, an authority, and not a private company. Wonder if they are willing to write that same stuff in english respectively if the person in charge masters English well enough.

Maybe the part that you do not understand indicates that you may have a certain time to give your statement or to appeal against this fine.

But if you must admit that you really have been exceeding speed, pay and "let God be a good man". Anything else will cause you more cost, loss time and energy.

That's worth a try, I think. Maybe there's a chance not to pay any fine because translating this is too much work for them and in the end they drop that case.

Will it really worth 35 euro to send all these letters.
I'm already happy I haven't been speeding 71 km/h
It would have been about 80 euros then. Now it's 'only' €35

I think the stricter rule is that you should have the note in your possession. But in some cases one could make an exception and enter notes that are "publicly displayed" in a donation box. I have also done this sometimes (in a place where I think no other tracker passes by).
