Hexadecimal Serials on Euronotes

Post by doiknow »

I am somehow clueless on how to enter the new bancnotes released by some printers. As some countries ran in danger to run out of serials the ECB allowed to use the hexadecimal system on euro notes. These serials contain the digits 0 - 9 as well as the letters A to F. Thus allowing more notes to be print with just 11 digits including the checksum digit. In an informal mail contacting the ECB they confirmed the existence of these notes. And even several banks confirmed these notes to be 'non counterfeit'

However wanting to enter them here at EBT wasn't possible up to now... Could you please add a feature allowing to enter hexadecimal coded notes?
If I have enough time I will add a scan of these notes (both being :flag-it: :note-20: J/S) and a copy of the mail I have here.

As I am in most cases not the first to get new notes please inform me wether you also saw some up to now or not... And how did you get them to EBT? Do I have to convert them back to the decimal system?
One Currency, one Union, one Eurobilltracker...
My dots are of the same order as 10.

On this picture you see a test version where the German printer tested this system with a letter on the fourth place.

But wait until tomorrow, then the problem is solved

Till now nobody found 20 J/S with hexadecimal numbers, and it's cannot be a news because ECB doesn't planned any print of this :note-20: for 2011 ;)

This image looks like the avarage attempt from a faker with photoshop, when he asserts his innocence by a "hit in series" with a picture of his note.

But anyway: your posting yesterday helped me to get awake in the morning, and after a minute of (re)thinking, i realized what day it was. Great idea!

I think that's too much information to fakers, who now know how not to do things ;).

That said, yes, the manipulation is obvious :).
