Craco,

do you think avatars could be added to the forum ? They're fun.
If we go over the 200.000 hits per day on the server, OVH will jsut ask you to reduce it or upgrade. We could then move all the avatar images to another server if needed...

or are you really busy in real life these days

If avatars reduce the loading speed of the forum pages, I surely dislike them. I want to read the postings, which is sometimes annoying because the server seems to be slow. I don't blame anybody for a slow server if it is only used for text. But low speed and unnecessary data don't go together well.

I totally agree with Donald, people come here to read the postings. Maybe avatars aren't a problem for those who have superfast internetconnections, but (I think) most of us don't have them.

I have a superfast connection :)
But even here the forum isn't always as fast...
So I think if there are avatars, it's going to be even slower...

I don't really care about those avatars, but it should be possible to just turn them off in your profile, so you don't see them on the forum.

Everyone can put an image into the signature. Isn't that almost the same as an avatar?

Looks like some users did find out already that i enabled the avatar-possibility, since i see the avatars popping up :D. I didn't announce it yet officially since i had not loaded up any avatar packs yet, but OK.

Interesting comments were made about performance. I'll have a look on the Phpbb-site to see, if we can do some tweaking in order to improve performance.

I noticed it too, and now I've got an avatar up. It's one of my Neopets, from http://www.neopets.com. It's an Ixi ;)

[edit: It was from neopets.com]

Later I hope to find a real, real nice one to use here.

I noticed Olivier's avatar, so I started to use the same avatar I use in some Finnish board.

EDIT: Which apparently doesn't work right now. I guess freeservers.com isn't so good after all.

First I thought, avators would be slowing down the proces.

But I can see, they only make this forum more colourfull...
btw, hope I don't make any delays with mine, my avator will maybe slow down the traffic

When I was 6 years old (1973) (are you reading this pinquino  ??) we travelled with this car from Groningen to Lago di Garda!

Of course, I wasn't driving
