Maybe something like the spam hammer should be installed here...

I think we'd just need some kind of bot trap - i.e. a control field that has to be checked or not in order to register on the forum. If the field is checked in a false manner a file is opened that adds the current IP address to some kind of other file. If this IP adress ever visits this forum again a page like 'You fell into a bot trap - contact the EBT team to be removed' will be displayed. Like that we should easily be able to get rid of most spam users.
