After all these years I finaly took the ferry from Calais to Dover and yes I was a littlebit seasick, but I don't have any regrets

By the way, looking at the price of the Chunnel or the Eurostar, planes or boats are still an option !

The Channel Tunnel is expensive, and to be honest, it's only any good if you live in the South East of England.... it takes me 4-5 hours to get to London Waterloo, so not much use to me.

I prefer to fly, or take an overnight ferry from the North of England (Newcastle or Hull)

It's the second year that I've tried to bring my family over to Uk or Ireland for a holiday, and if you want to bring the car + wife and children with you over there, it's a very expensive trip : for example : Britanny Ireland is +/- 1100 € for the ferry... And this only includes the journey ! Add a 600-800 € per week for a cottage ; it beomes really expensie. With this money we prefer to rent a house somewhere on the continent and have some money left for dothunting

43 is the only reasonable value to me. Those few countries are the same (same cities etc.) so I wouldn't count them twice.

IMHO, I'd mostly agree on this. Think about this example: I have visited the Soviet Union, but not all the parts that it used to cover. For example, I didn't visit the Estonian or Latvian territories during the Soviet time. Now that Estonia and Latvia are independent again, I have been to both of them. Should I not count Estonia and Latvia as separate countries because they used to be parts of the Soviet Union?

OTOH, the matter may be a little more complicated in certain cases. On my list I counted Russia and the Soviet Union as one country, because I visited such parts of the Soviet Union that were and are on the Russian territory. Similarly, I'd say that if you visited Prag but not Bratislava in the Czechoslovakian era, and now go to both of those cities, it might be righteous to count Czechoslovakia and Czech republic as one country and Slovakia as another.
