Automated Birthday Greetings
In the Users Forum there is a list of the trackers' birthdays. Meanwhile it comprises 85 names or so and it is still growing. Now that they have put me on the list as well, I shall probably get birthday greetings posts. In this case I feel obliged to write birthday greetings to the persons who do me that favor as well. So I have to check the birthday list regularly.
My proposal: Can you provide a "smart" text string which reads: "Happy Birthday,
My proposal: Can you provide a "smart" text string which reads: "Happy Birthday,
- and all my best wishes for the coming year"? The contents of "
- " should vary automatically from day to day and display the names of the persons who have birthday on the present date. If nobody has birthday, there should be no text at all. I would like to use such a text string as a signature for my posts.
Re: Automated Birthday Greetings
One priority should be to fix all the wrong locations...
All the stats on countries/bills are false today.

Another tiny improvement I'd like see would be a much bigger text-editor box for your profile comment. Right now it's pretty much useless and you have to use an external editor and then copy&paste the text if you want to have more than a short quote appear there.
Why not increase the size to that of the text box here in the forum for writing new messages? That's just perfect.

One thing I would really like to see, though it may well be too database intensive, is to have a second filter (in combination with the country) for the rankings by a selection of time periods e.g. "last 24 hours", "last week" or "last month". This would then lead to some interesting battles for the top positions in these rankings and 15 minutes of fame for those of us who can only dream of being high up in the overall totals. I think it would motivate a lot of people to enter more notes and would add a lot of interest.
Hey coastal, when reading this topic earlier this day, thats exactly what I thought. There are so many propositions here that are without any doubt nice and would increase the EBT fun, but this one is really basic!
I would favour a 14 day or one month ranking the way it existed in 2002. New users are damned to anonymity as it gets ever more difficult to enter the TOP 330 in several countries, every step to make them more visible should be a boost to EBT!

The Greek alphabets don't work properly in EBT - or is it just because of the settings of my computer?

This is how you can fix that when using firefox, almost completely the same menu structure can be found also from IE:Aaron wrote:The Greek alphabets don't work properly in EBT - or is it just because of the settings of my computer?

View (Näytä) -> Character Encoding (Merkistökoodaus) -> Add (Lisää) -> West European (Länsieurooppalainen) -> Greek (ISO 8859-7).
The negative effect of that is that non-English alphabets (for example å, ä and ö) are broken until you choose ISO 8859-15 (Latin with Euro) again.
Ko saka āboliņš? Pēk pēk pēk!
I agree with that! I liked this ranking list at the beginning of EBT.Ernst wrote: I would favour a 14 day or one month ranking the way it existed in 2002. Checked it under netscape/linux, and it works very similar, too. You can also change EBT's language to greek, then the comment is correct, but everythink is in greek now.Dakkus wrote:This is how you can fix that when using firefox, almost completely the same menu structure can be found also from IE:Aaron wrote:The Greek alphabets don't work properly in EBT - or is it just because of the settings of my computer?

However, there seems to be a problem with the greek translation of the sentence "Note #xxxxxx has been entered once". Here the fonts do not work correctly, at least with my computer:
Code: Select all
Ôï ÷áñôïíüìéóìá #Yxxxx6188xxx Ý÷åé êáôá÷ùñçèåß ìßá öïñÜ. Είναι ένα χαρτονόμισμα αξίας 10 από το έτος 2002. Ο σύντομος κωδικός είναι Fxxxxx.
