Abstract:
This site does scientifical work. Some may call it fun (like me) or hobby others are addicts but in the end it is all about statistics: We try to observe the travelling of each single Euro note. As we have too litle personel to track every note (which would be nice [others call this situation Finland, Helsinki, Vienna, Helmbrechts or Nürnberg]) we have to do statistical research to observe the expected ways of notes.
Probability distribution:
Surely we await notes to travel both: long and short distances as well as long and short time. Again we are awaiting a maximum somewhere in between long and short. (Further information) If we now start to cut one end of the distribution we gain false results assuming there would be no bills that travel only short distances which is obviously false as a long distance consists of several short distances. So we then had to moderate a hit which goes from Inaari to Lisbon because the note had been found every 5km
Conclusion:
We need to hold every sinlge hit visible
- if it has taken place in reality.
- if it is not faked or part of a whole 'hit bundle'.
- even if the distance or time is short or long.
- this excludes 'tracking accidents' i.e. if I insert a note my friend has inserted he gave to me saying 'I inserted it'.
Solution:
We could introduce a further seperation of hits like national/international into:
'Municipal' part of 'Regional' part of 'National' part of 'European' part of 'World' = 'All'
'International' (which just shows international hits as is)
This idea helps to find intersting hits and makes research easier. Still every single category needs to be visible.
I hope you get my idea ;)

I don't believe Zimmerge will ever do that again (or anyone who has read this), you can give him some rest now, I am sure he regrets it more than all the others. :P

The good thing that came out of this was a lot of ideas regarding the classification of hits, "regional", "local", "over 10 days". Since EBT already calculates distance and time for all hits, this "classification categories" could just be a matter of filtering (or visualization), and don't demand for a redesign of the database. Triples and above could be more complicated.

I am not sure if i understand your "earns 10 days". So just for explanation:

Team nossi got this note at a Bank Austria branch, entered the note on 2008-10-29 into the EBT-system and deposit the bundle in a bank (which one, we didn't know). I got a part of this notes 12 days later also in a Bank Austria branch, but - and this is the conclusion of my comment - it was not brought there by team nossi! Because the note made a stop at one of three GSA-branches here in Vienna, where most of the notes of banks are counted, checked for integrity and afterwards bundled again for circulation. And this described work step happend on 2008-10-31. And so we know another place, where the notes has been. (And if team nossi wants, they can try to find out, which notes were destroyed by the GSA!)

And maybe 90% of my bundle-comments are not very exciting, but sometimes you can recognize also some curiosities: that a whole bundle was stored over 2 years or a note made a journey from Vienna to a GSA-Branch somewhere in the southern or western part of Austria and then returned back to Vienna!

And we don't have to talk about the third part of the triple. Because of the duration and the comment of CobbDouglas i know, that he has the bad luck to went into this branch of bank, where i deposit this notes before. But - since i visit this place about one time in a month - it was just coincidence. As CobbDougles mentioned before, we try to avoid such situation, but since we didn't have a group calender, where each EBT-member write down his planned tours, such things could happen.

Perphaps there could be a third classification for hits like "Local" (same town), but this thread is not the right place for talking about improvements! The right place is here: Avij's and Nerzhul's famous to do list

List all of my hits you want to get moderated, get my hitpartner(s) to agree and I will ask the hit moderators to moderate all of them. A hit is always the "property" of at least two users, so I can't get hits moderated just on my own just because they are of short distance or duration. I do agree, in advance, to all moderations suggested by presidente.

I don't suggest nothing, it's something that must come from you depending by your "feeling" with EBT and standard of other hits.

According to the moderation standards at the moment all my hits are fine the way they are. Whenever friendly hits happened I had them immediately moderated anyway. Short duration is not the same as a friendly hit, take this hit as an example, I have never seen LaGomera in my life, I have no idea where he/she is getting his/her notes because he/she is not using the comment field, I had no idea that he/she left notes at the bank I visited today, so why should this hit get moderated under the ebt rules as they are at the moment?
I am in favour of stronger moderation standards but I am not a fan of randomly picking some of my hits and let them get moderated just because of their duration or distance. I know that doing this would not make my hitpartners happy because I can’t know which hit might be interesting for them for whatever reason.
I would suggest advanced filter methods as the best solution for this problem, so nobody has to see 100s of Viennese or Finish hits if he’s not interested. I would also suggest stricter auto-moderation rules, all hits below certain duration or distance would be moderated under such a system.

No suspicious note but a "faked" one (or one I never had):

http://de.eurobilltracker.com/notes/?id=62165023

I know it because I made a typo entering it myself (confusing X30*** and X39*** so the serial was still valid).

I would appreciate it if the above note id could be removed as I already entered the correct serial again.

Thanks! :-)

next time doesn' t insert the right one and send a mail to contact@eurobilltracker.com putting the wrong serial number and the good one: only administrators can delete notes, instead there are many superusers that can change it!! :D :D

As in Finland we tend to get hits from banks very easily, we try to avoid bringing any hit notes to banks so that the triple hits are not unnecessarily uninteresting (I still have eight moderated triple hits because of slippery from this unwritten rule). Of course, when I have a bundle of 100 hit notes (of which 99 auto-moderated), it takes more time changing them anywhere else than in a bank but it still is worth the trouble. If one or two of the notes later become triple hits at least I know that there is something interesting in them.

Please take it just as a suggestion. I know this kind of consideration is necessary only if you have at least two active members in a city, but it takes only those two (or three to get a triple, but anyway).

Any reason why the above mentioned "hit" isn't moderated yet? Robje previously hit into series, so I would think it's a clear case:
