Ok, I haven't forgotten about this... I've looked at your source and I see it's perl. Unfortunatly, the site is in PHP so you can't just include the source for bill insertion :(

So either you rewrite the code in PHP (which you would hate to do I'm sure) or I need to open up the access via HTTP. Although this would be time consuming for me, it opens up a bunch of possibilities (I know everyone has thought of this before, even I but I'm finally starting to feel the site is mature enough for this and it's time for me to learn SOAP for real)
  • - WAP from your site
    - email from someone elses' site (I'll never be able to handle emails directly through procmail until I get a dedicated server for this project (hopefully never!)
    - and my final idea : everywhere in the world by writing a small phpnuke/postnuke/xoops module which everyone would die to put on their site of course (sarcasme...)
    - others ?
Of course this opens up the door to lots of cheating etc but hopefully the new rules on the hit list will make things clear on that part and I'm hoping we can detect cheaters through bill serial number analysis

I think it would be very cool to put your code on the server so people would see the official EBT address on it. Was that part of your idea ? Or maybe you want to get a domain of your own ? (That's about 10 euros a year...) like www.wirelessbilltracking.com ;)

What do you think ?

After we sort this out,I'll put a message on the front page about this and we can start posting to PDA & WAP forums and sites to get some people to use it

You could add the link in the bill commentary (I don't want to give people any bad ideas though...)

What kind of phone do you have (maker and model)? There is a template for the short code, M3NMN (which should be correct as far as I know), but phones are known to have bugs.. I can try adjusting the template somehow, 1M3N1M1N might work as well. Hmm.

Sorry, I missed that

In any case, I have modified the templates to MNNNMN and MNNNNNNNNNNN instead of M3NMN and M11N. Those work with my 6310i, and I hope they'll work with your phone as well. Looking at the logs, someone may have had similar problems with a SonyEricsson T68, this may help him/her as well.

Seems like that change helped the situation with my Nokia phone as well: now I no longer have to switch between number and character input modes when entering those codes, Nokia changes the input format automatically according to the template. The bad news is that I have prefilled the first character of the short code / serial number according to the country, and it no longer seems to work  Well, it's mostly better this way so I'll keep the new input templates.

Oh, entering notes won't work at this moment, because of the well-known problems at OVH ... but you can still try how the new input templates work. You may have to hit "refresh" or similar on your phone to get the newest version.

Hello,

I just tryed to enter a note with my phone.
I got to the site en I entered my username, I also entered my bill,
but then I got the message that the username was not found at EBT.

How did this happen,

Rob.

Most probably your password was incorrect. Please try logging in with the same password to EBT (with a regular WWW browser) to see if it works or not. You may have received the correct password by email by now -- I tried logging in with the email address you supplied.

Also worth noting is this little tidbit linked on the WAP front page: The EBT password is checked only when you're submitting your notes to EBT -- the password is not checked when doing the initial login to this WAP gateway so you may well be able to punch in the note serial number etc even if you gave an incorrect password, it'll complain about the password only when you're actually submitting the note. Hope this helps.

(the system worked beautifully on my vacation last week -- I was able to enter notes while I was on the beaches of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura :)

There are well-known login problems, with various reasons. Please make sure you used the right username and the right password; if the problem persists, you should report the problem as detailed as possible.

Nope, this one was different and it's not related to the regular EBT login problems.

If it was your phone telling something like "Gateway not responding" or similar, try selecting refresh from your phone. Some networks have more problems than some, I had problems like that when I was visiting Canary Islands about a week ago, and occasionally here in Finland as well.

I tried this WAP thing with my brothers cell phone this weekend. This is how it looks with Motorola T720i:

Unfortunately there were some problems with EBT at the time:
