I would say these are rather pointless numbers, bacause no-one is only tracking within his / her own country and bills don´t stay in one country all the time
I prefer the figure of 2648 for all of Europe.

I would say that the numbers per country are taken in account what you are saying. I merely pointing out that in Belgium, it seems easier to get a hit in Belgium than elsewhere. Probably due to the good spread of users and bills. In the Netherlands, the users and bills seems to have not that good of spread...

Mr Euro wrote:In theory you need 2648 bills entered to get a hit. 403 hits on 1067317 bills
I entered 319 notes, 1 interesting hit and 1 non-interesting one :-)

Which is odd, considering that in Italy the probability of getting a hit is very low :-(

Well, probably it's because I use my bills to advertise EBT :-)

Would it be difficult to calculate hit ratio for each user and put it into profile? :)

Can I object to that? I think it would be a bit depressing. Every time I would log in, I would see "0 hits per each X bills"... :?

That'd be wimpy with 1779 notes.

I did some stats regarding Finnish EBT users' hits in this thread, for example if some Finn has entered between 220 and 320 notes, the chances that he/she has received a hit with those entries is roughly 50%. So if some Finn needs to enter thousands of notes before getting a hit, I'd consider that person to be quite unlucky. The numbers will be slightly worse for other countries.

You can't say that the average number of bills needed to get a hit is the same as the number of bills the most unlucky person has entered!!! I've calculated which is the everage number of bills you need to get an (interesting) hit:

The Netherlands: 1006 bills for each hit
Belgium: 1099 bills / hit

For the other country's I can't say, because I don't know how much hits they have. I'll add this result to my top-50 list in the Dutch forum, the next time when I make an update.

I don't think that mr euro was saying that you needed on average 1822 bills in Belgium to get a hit and in the Netherlands 6972 bills.

I think that he was saying you need at least 1822 and 6972 bills... And if you're lucky you can get a hit after only a few bills. So that's why the average amount of bills to get a hit is much lower.

I think it is true than on average you need much less bills...

First of all, thanks to Avij for the update and Thomas B for his excellent lists! I'm not going to get into your word-fight about "average", but here are some comments on the Belgian top-50 users and their hits (or misses). So, at the moment Wimpy has entered most notes (1779) without a hit, and he is ranked at #20. After him it's Euro.be at ranking #27 with 1357 notes. Then there's a hitless bunch #31-34 (including me and Mr Euro - not that we are bitter, no way :o ). Users at rankings 35-50 all have at least one hit, except for a relative newcomer rogerlescargot at #44, inactive vercaignetho #41 and the last two, #49-50 Magoju and Phil60. So, 80 % of the Belgian top-50 users have had at least one hit. Shall we tackle the Dutch users next?

p.s. Finn, what are your three hit categories? You wrote: "1993 notes, 6 + 1 + 2 hits." Interesting hits, non-interesting hits and fake hits? (Sorry, couldn't resist... :) )

I've done some research about the hits made by people in The Netherlands and Belgium to make the top-50 hits list in the Dutch forum. In those stats you can see the total amount of hits made by people from those country's. On the site of EBT you can see the amount of bills entered by each country. Divide the number of bills by the number of hits and you'll get the average... 8)

If you really want to know the unluckiest user just looking at the number of entered notes is not enough. In fact you have to look at the exposure days of the notes. It's the sum of the time the number of day all the notes have been in the system.

An example.

Let say user one has entered 5 notes, First one 5 days ago, second 3 days ago the 2 notes 2 days ago and one today.
His total exposure days would be 5 + 3 + 2x2 + 0 = 12

If another user also enter 5 notes but all of them one month (30 days) ago the his total exposure days would be 30x5 = 150

If both users are hitless, although they have the same amount of bills, the last user has less luck.

And now I'm wondering what the total exposure days of all registered bills are. :?
