I want that coin!!!!!! I saw it in finnish internet auction and the price was 120€!!!! That is too much!

Some months ago the price was here 25 euro.
But now they are sold out and the prices are mutch higher!
120 euro is TOO expensive here they are mutch cheaper.

That's quite suspicious as the original price from Royal Mint of Belgium was 31 Euros

I know.
But dealers can but it for a lower price because they buy more coins

The topic is "60 years of peace and freedom" and if I don't messed up with my dutch, it will be issued in a box ("luxueus schrijntje") instead of the typical folder, the previous 10€-coins were issued in.

Yes, seems so. I get the French version of the mint's magazine (Monnaie Info), and they write about the coin being "livrée dans un luxueux écrin". In German we would say something like Etui or Schatulle ...

Too right! I can't believe I once actually contemplated collectin these. You would need to spend hundreds on coins a year to get them all. Even collecting national coins for some countries (like Germany ) is an expensive business. I am lucky because Ireland only seem to release one commemorative €10 coin a year - that I can afford!

About the TinTin Coin. I saw a shop nearby which sells them at €60 a piece and in the collectorsbox.

Right, but you cannot get the Irish collector coins at face value. When I bought the Hamilton coin (€10 nominally), for example, I paid more than 30 euro for it. Admittedly that is a proof piece - but if all you want is a BU coins, you can get the €10 collector coins at face value in DE. Same with €5/€10 coins in NL, and a few other countries. Try that with Belgian, Irish or, even worse, French pieces, hehe ...

I guess that is a problem - Ireland does not issue any BU Commemorative coins. I guess I know why. All the "special" Irish coins are minted in Paris, so to make the extra expense worthwhile only Proof coins are issued, and at more than face value. In Germany the coins are all minted in-house, and this would cut down on the cost significantly, allowing BU coins to be minted too. By the way - are coins minted as both BU and proof?

Yes, but while the 10€ pieces (which I would call UNC instead of BU because they often have the same little scratches like currency from rolls) are available for face-value at the banks, the proof-versions are distribute for higher price (16€ I guess) from the VfS in Bad Homburg (official sellingpoint for german commemoratives and sets) only.

It was early in 2002 when the french issue-politic "destroyed" my dream of a complete Euro-collection , than I tried to get only the issues available for face-value which became to much, too.
No I try to stay up to date at least with those coins, that are legal tender in the whole €-Zone - currency and 2€-commemoratives.

Interesting to hear that the irish comemoratives were minted in France, I guessed they were made in Sandyford, too.
But the 5€ "Special Olympics" was in BU, right?
