Hi! I'm from Malta. I agree that they are our island's national shame. Every cloud has a silver lining though. It's encouraging to note that the Maltese greens obtained a whopping 10% of the votes to the European parliament, however the candidate represententing the hunters and trappers assosciation obtained about 0.5%
So yes, hunting does seem to be on the decline.

Most of the outer cities in Poland, Czech Rep., Hungary or Slovakia look a little like Trois-Rivières, Québec: Some older buildings, some rotten industrial buildings, old gas stations and some newer shops and supermarkets in between. However, there are still some beautiful areas in the city centers as well. Prague and Budapest are surely worth visiting. I also like Lodz.
Cyprus is just like the Greek islands, it has many Russian and Arab Banks and a corresponding number of Russians and Arabs who work with Russian and Arab money. Cyprus is the country which has the biggest money streams from and to Russia. It also substituted Lebanon as the place in the Eastern Mediterranean where Arab banks have many branches.

Can you talk also about the POSITIVE aspects too
I'm Maltese and i was very angry when i saw this page. I admit that in Malta there are hunters who kill birds for fun and i myself am totally against it. It is a very stupid activity and i agree with you that it is something dreadful.
But hey Malta is not just hunters, only few people in Malta are hunters. We also have a lot of positive aspects among which, in Malta we always have the sun, it is very rare that we would have even just one day without any sun. We also have a very beautiful sea. Generally when tourists come to my country they complement us for our hospitality. Most of all we have a lot of monuments and heritage in our country, well practically we have something for everyone!!
I'm not saying that my country is perfect and who can say that for one's country?? But i'm just saying that you have to write both the positive and the negative aspects of my country and let the people who visit this site decide for themselves what to do!

On Malta
The hunting aspect of the Maltese Culture is just one black spot which unfortunately has left all Malta with a bitter taste!
Although the majority of Maltese are against hunting in no small manner it has proved harder to remove this scrourge as politicians are more worried about their skin than anything else!
But do please take alook at those photos Pajs has posted. You will realise that Malta has much more to offer than that of the Hunting Scene!

There was a problem up to a year ago in that the EU referendum was hanging by a thread. Popular beleif was that hunters had a lobby group of 20,000 votes. In a population of 400,000 that is a lot. This caused polititians to suffer from paralyses.
Now things have changed. The referendum is gone and done with and more important the last EP election the hunters lobby barely made a dent. You out there have no idea how the majority are sick of these people.
Keeping pressure from abroad helps though. Come visit Malta, it is very safe, can party all night, take it easy and relax, find new girlfriends or boyfriends or simply immerse yourself in 15,000 years of well documented history.
While you're there make sure all those that make money off you that you do not like hunters. That is better than signing a petition.
