Who found counterfeited (fake) euro coins

Hello,

I have never seen fake euro coins, as far as I know. First of all, I have one 2 euro coins from Spain - and the difference in starssize is the same as the picture.
Talking about stars size, do you know that the belgian coins (especially the 20 cents) have different size of stars? But each year has - as far as I have seen - the same size.
I do have a german coin (50 cent, 2002) that could be fake.....it doesn't have a sign of the mintcity. But I think it's just a failure of production.
I also have a belgian 2 cent coin 2000 with a little strange last zero, it looks a bit like a 9 or a Q.

Some Belgian coins have different star size, I think 1c 1999 and 20c 2002. That can be because they changed the star size in the middle of the year. 20c 2000 has big stars, 2002 has big and small stars, 2003 and 2004 have small stars.
Belgian coins are also known to have a variety of differently turned front and back sides. If you look at the common side and turn the coin, the king can look straight left or anywhere up to 20° up or down.

I know other differences on different coins or different years, for example french coins of 1999 have a slightly smaller (or bigger?) national side. Or the front side of most Italian coins is slightly smaller.

Some days ago, I have found a Portugese 1€ 2002 with a blur national side. If I can, I'll try to weight that coin tomorrow.

@ yli:
Good (= large, light and sharp) pictures of your ES 2€, DE 50c and BE 2c may reveal more of the origin of their differences. The weight and magnetism of the ES 2€ would also be interesting. Please ask a pharmacist or jeweller for the exact weight (x,xx grammes) and compare the magnetism of the pill with some other 2€ coin.
The German coin may be suffering from a dirty die, the Belgian coin is probably deformed because a small part of the die chipped off.

The differences in star-size (within one type and year) you're talking about are variants. Next to the BE 1c '99 and BE 20c '02 there are 2 more Belgian coin types which have variants. In a couple of days I will publish the English edition of a catalogue in which I have described all yet known euro-variants (check my website for more info).
No real research has done regarding the other variations you mention.

Please also check the magnetism. A good picture (see my answer @ yli) would also be helpful. The strange appearance of your coin may be due to die-wear, but I need more info to confirm or reject this possibility.

It's a long time....but I have made a scan of my weird eurocoins.

1) a Belgian 2 eurocent (2000) with a strange last 0 of year.

2) a German 50 eurocent (2000) without a city mark below the year

3) a 2 euro coin from Monaco (2001), witch is the strangest of all... The european side is normal, but the other side is only in one color. The side of the coin is normal and it's magnetic

The Belgian 2c is quite normal. Many times, the stamp of our 2c coin has a poor quality (extra pieces of metal -like yours-, cracks, ...).

Quite normal is not normal, I would say.

I collect coins, but I have never had the 2 en 50 cent in my collection. prefer to sell this belgian 2 ct coin. And even if somebody wants to pay 3 ct for it....I had a 50% profite

I have never thought it was a fake coin. No, somebody must be really weird to countereited 2 ct coins.

The 50ct coin is pretty nice! I think some oil on the unminted coin is the reason for the missing letter. I eg have got a German 10ct coin with a star missing. It's not rare, but still a nice coin, congratulations.

Today I got a German €2 coin which looked like if someone had sandpapared the european side. That's probably what happened, since the other side was fine.

I got the 2 euro from somebody who had bought a rol of € 2 coins of Monaco and sells them to earn some extra money for the family vacation.

The coin is stored, like all my around 1700 coins in a Hartberger © coin holder. Hopefully you know this dutch system of storing coins.

I think the different color on one side comes from a wrong storage. I don't know the Hartberger frames, but I'm sure the have a good quality. So maybe the guy who sold it to you stored it bad. It could also be first/last coin from the roll etc.
