Talking about D15 area, Blanchardstown suppose to be a town, then I live in Hartstown, actually it suppose to be Clonsilla, very confusing Then I have lived in Blanchardstown Village and in Castlenock (or Carpenterstown).

So no wonder, if I have made some misstakes in Irish place names

All the provincial flags in Finland are banners unlike in other countries, and they often have the coat of arms of the province or the city in them nowadays.

Then we have a mand-made stupid five big departments that consist of regions. I don't think they are really important for people in general, but in administration they are.

I think a 5-digit postal code system would be the best for Ireland, 4 digits could be ok as well as the country isn't too big. And alphanumeric would be the worst, you can't really figure out in which part of the country some place is by looking at such postal code.

These are the numbers of the French Départements, which are also the postal code areas. The most famous is Paris: 75. Post codes from Paris are 75001 (Paris 1° arrondissement), 75002... Lille, capital of the département du Nord (59), has the postal code 59000, etc.
You can also find them on French numberplates...

BTW, Belgian postal codes are also geographical, but don't follow the provincial borders everywhere. The old province of Brabant (now: Flemish Brabant, Walloon Brabant and Brussels, which doesn't belong to a province) has code 1***, except for the canton Leuven (the entire eastern Flemish Brabant), which has code 3***, but 35** and higher means Limburg. So, 1*** for Brussels, Walloon Brabant and the west of Flemish Brabant, and 3*** for the east.
The province Antwerp has 2***, Liège 4***, Namur 5***, Hainaut 6*** (not the capital has 6000, but Charleroi ), 7*** is Luxemburg, 8*** is Western Flanders and 9*** Eastern Flanders.
