Does anyone know if there is a Finnish Ice Hotel? I know that there is one in Swedish Lapland, but is there also one in Finland?

Thanks.

Yes - thanks - just like that!

Any ideas how to get to such a place? It doesn't say much on the English web site... maybe flights to Oulu (although that looks a long way)...?

In the north everything below 300km is considered neighbourhood ;)
And, if I remember right, the snow castle's in Kemi. And it isn't really that long drive from Oulu to Kemi. And I'd remember there are also trains going between those cities.

Maybe you will. Well, in Rovaniemi you can meet him even in summer.  I hope you will also see the northern lights. Well, lately it has been very cloudy.
btw It sometimes can be quite cold then ( -20 to -35 °C).

You can fly via Helsinki to Kemior take a night train. It is also possible to fly to Oulu via Copenhagen or Stockholm and take a bus to Kemi.
It has been quite warm this season, but I think now they finally can start to build the castle.
( btw There is a different place in northern Lapland where you can overnight in an igloo. )

There is also a tourist ice breakerin Kemi

It wasn't a scheduled train but a special christmas train coming from Kolari.
So, the tourist group's leader probably didn't know there was a train coming at that time. Must've been a sad surprise to him..
I guess he'll ask VR for the special train timetables from now on.

The dead were 18- and 14-year-old, whose parents were the at the same trip.

BTW, "Kolari" is Finnish for "Crash"
