I only collect coins I receive in "natural circulation", i.e. I keep coins that are foreign to the country where I get them. Yes, I admit, when I have to take myself the change out of a box (yes sometimes this happens), and I see a foreign coin, I take it (but I don't search for any other way than with my eyes).

I'm afraid never in my life I will have got all euro coins "by natural circulation", even when hundreds of the most common ones have passed my hands.

Until now I keep track of my foreign euro coins on www.village.in-berlin.de/euro-tagebuch/ (personal details only for myself) .

2004-01-01: not continued, will probably go off-line some day. (Or I will only enter NEW coins, because I'm still collecting)

I also try to promote mixing coins when going on holidays. Coins I already have, I always re-spend. In my experience, the 1..5¢ coins (copper) are very rarely from foreign countries. Contrary to BossaNova http://forum.eurobilltracker.eu/profile ... ofile&u=81
I would say for Germany: here are so many german coins around that the amount of foreign coins will hardly exceed 5 or 10%.

Nice stats ... you should be happy you don't live in Belgium. According to http://www.eurodiffusie.nl Belgium has 37% foreign coins. Your list would be LARGE .
Almost every change I get, I receive a foreign coin, esp. Holland and France, than Germany, Spain, Luxembourg and Italy. Others are quiet rare.

I took a 0.6 litre container full of Finnish euro coins with me to Belgium one month ago. I tried to select the most shiny ones. I spent the coins in Brussels and Antwerp and also in a small village south side of Antwerp (Lint). So, it's theoretically possible you've got my coin. I don't know how far Mechelen is from the places where I spent my coins.

I just stumbled into this topic since someone brought it up again (I'm pretty new here).

Instead of all of you guys I don't waste my life putting serial numbers in the computer. I prefer to waste it by collecting coins.
I collect all euro coins which are issued in rolls, bags and starterkits (so no BU or Proof) including variants and errors. The extra task I set for myself is to never pay anything extra for a euro coin (nominal value only). I succeed here quite well due to the aid of (a.o.) about ten shop owners who put their foreign coins aside for me.
At present I have hundreds of double coins of each of the 12 countries. I keep these coins (except most of the 1€ and 2€) in case new variants are discovered. With all those doubles there is always a good chance I got such a new variant already laying around somewhere. The other purpose is of course swapping with other collectors.
Before all of you start contacting me, I never swap coins by post. All of my swapping is done 'in person'.

In the weekend I live in Kontich at about 500m from Lint.
But still, I didn't find a single Finnish coins in the mean time

Maybe it was a mistake to take shiny coins as people pick them out of circulation easier. I still collect coins to the same container and maybe I'll take them even more with me to Central Europe next summer. This time I have collected any Finnish euros in any condition - some of them are shiny, others are not.

I haven't planned to go to Belgium in the near future though.

We don't have so many foreign euro coins in circulation here in Finland. I wish whenever you come down here please bring with you as many coins of your own country as possible.

I don't think someone will ever complete his/hers Eurocoincollection, because every country is making new coins in a new year (another year on the back)

But I don't collect coins of different years.

I also don't collect those coins. I spend them again, but not after I looked if I've ever received such kind of coin (or note) the natural way: in Holland or Germany (so not on holiday in Greece for instance). I've made a statistic out of this. It's my own diffusionproject . I will never have this complete, because of the small countries, but whatever...

By the way, you will not find Germany listed, because I had it complete in the first week of 2002 already.

Anyway, I think I willl never finish my collection as I miss a lot of coins (I miss allmost all the commemorative 2 Euro coins and some coins from Finland...)
