you have to do that yourself :
search "eurobilltracker" and in the results go to 'groups' and click in the group on "join this group"

Hmm, I agree with Dakkus that Facebook is something to avoid. There's the privacy aspect, then there's the small fact that anything that you upload to Facebook ( pics, texts, you name it ) becomes Facebook's legal property ie it ain't any longer YOURS. I've other reasons to for my aversion against Facebook and similar services, too.

Well as far as privacy is conserned, you can share personal information and uploaded content with exactly the people that you want and no one else. Regarding the legal ownership, it is stated in the Terms of use that,

"Facebook does not assert any ownership over your User Content; rather, as between us and you, subject to the rights granted to us in these Terms, you retain full ownership of all of your User Content and any intellectual property rights or other proprietary rights associated with your User Content."

You do however grant a general license for your content to Facebook, that allows them to copy, store and distribute your content. The license expires when you remove the user content.

To avoid any 'problems' you can simply avoid uploading 'delicate' material

Dakkus wrote:Hey, actually I could do something with facebook, after all. I'm quite strongly against it, but in this case there's something that supersedes that boycott. So.. If anyone's got an idea how to properly inform other EBT users about Giro's unfortunate mischief using Facebook, then I'm with you! :)
wwell me and another user allready put a text on facebook, but the members of the eurobilltracker-group do NOT get an automatic notification of this.

as i don't like spamming i did NOT send private messages to everyone. Yet. first i want to see how the situation evolves.

may i ask btw why you oppose facebook ? For me personally it's a good way to keep contact with friends abroad. Just as a way of wasting time i'm against it too actually
Several privacy concerns. The strongest being that whatever a facebook user buys from any major American internet store gets automatically published in his Facebook profile. (The site sees Facebook's cookie on your hard drive and then sends Facebook a message telling you've bought yourself a new pink 40cm dildo.) And you can't prevent this from happening, you can only go and remove the text from your profile /after/ it's added.
A site with privacy policy like that should not be used.
I've just read that the issue of publishing this kind of information has been resolved. First they changed it from an opt-out to an opt-in and now you can also opt out permanently by checking the box here.

All this (together with an apology) is explained in the Facebook Creator's blog.

I'm in Facebook, and also in EBT group. Even had some friends through it :)

I have no idea how difficult it is to code an application to Facebook, but should we have one? Maybe it could show amount of our notes and hits, as simplest mode, maybe it could have some more functionality, for example shoving note- and hitmaps.

And referer link offcourse :)

I am there as well, and of course, in the EBT-group. Quite a nice surprise that on this site many people from outside the German-speaking countries are registered.
