Obviously, I am a candidate, too.

Maybe I should clarify since I already got a couple of PMs. We're looking for a phpBB admin in order to fight the masses of spam with technical solutions.

You will be able to delete users (which is what I'm already doing every day), but what we really need is technical expertise in handling users and groups, installing language packs, styles, plugins and upgrades of the forum software.

I'm sure I can do that. If you can set up a wiki or a photo gallery then a phpBB forum is quite similar.
Apart from that, I am a programmer IRL.

I can't give you that kind of help, but maybe I can moderating more forums?

He's posting almost each half an hour (other spammers once or twice a day max.).

It's really bad today, there are three, four different "users" posting crap in Off-topic.

And not only that forum. I'm following EBT Users forum and I'm receiving new messages notifications very frequently. Yesterday, Spanish forum was also spammers' victim. Although programming is not one of my best skills, in the interim, I could help moderating some forums if it is not a complex task .

Now it looks like it's really working .
Some still coming don't get permission to post, the others don't even try no more.

Sometimes one is passed through, but is deleted quite soon.

So now it's nice to be on the forum again .

Yeah, whatever you guys did seems to be working, past few days have been great.

There were indeed some tweakings done. I'm glad that you are noticing some results.
There might be still some spam coming through, since there is a lot of spam accounts left and some clean up work to be done.

I want to help make this forum better. I don't have actual expertise in PHPBB administering, but I'm a software consultant, so I think this is not something that I can learn quite quickly.

It looks like someone has slipped through again and all the administrators are on holiday, because his posts are not being deleted.
