Of course it looks a bit dodgy when somebody enters three notes and already has a hit.

Things will get clearer however if you have a look at them from a different angle: How many notes in general have been entered in France during the last days from newly registered users who just entered the few notes in their wallet juste pour le plaisir? It must be thousands....

You probably wouldn't be astonished by so many hits if all of these notes had been entered by just one user.

So don't worry and enjoy the hits! Personally, I can't wait the moment when one of my notes will be found in France. Which one is it going to be? I am so excited!

It makes all users "suspicious", in fact (except philgelico, of course). It's pretty obvious that this note was registered just after they saw the news item I mentioned. It was aired last Saturday, the 4th, and published on their website and on YouTube on the same day. Those three users registered the serial number on the 6th and 7th. Maybe someone can check the printer code — I bet it's wrong on all of them.

I should have rewatched the video before betting… In fact, the printer code is shown too (@ 1:33, if that's important). So I sort of keep my opinion. It's not impossible for the second user (Egsaver) to have truly found that note in Paris (162 km from the origin in Arras) 11 days after philgelico has registered. But it's highly unlikely for the third user (Janbillets) to have found it just 4 hours later another 150 km farther.

Anyway, I don't know if philgelico have asked for moderation, because this hit doesn't show up on the lists of hits of any of the users (who are hitless, safe from philigelico himself, of course).

I am ARCHI&PHILOU here on €BT, one of the new comers on the above list !
True, I am a new user since I have seen the video of PHILGELICO on LE PARISIEN on Saturday, February 4th in the afternoon.
I immediately find it funny to start an account on €BT, and to start coding the notes I have in my pockets.
It is also true that I seldom use my credit card to pay for every thing, contrary to many here in France since COVID confinement in March 2020.
I am "old" but not so (I am 63 yo) and I always pay with coins and notes.
This means that the notes do NOT stay for very long in my pockets, but I may have always ca. 100 € in notes.
I was very very surprised to see that I had a hit with the 4th note that I coded in €BT.
I am very aware that I was very very lucky.
I have never been in Chemnitz (former DDR) and of course I have never heard about the guy who coded first this 10 € note.
So this hit is a true hit, with a lot of luck.

I am a really upset to see here that somebody think that because new comers to €BT are coming and have a hit, all those hits are suspicious.

I would like to emphasize that this is a game where you have NOTHING to gain, there is no ranking,
and I just "play" with €BT for the fun to see if one of the notes I have encoded is encoded again by someone, somewhere, one day.

You are so right in what you wrote.

EBT has had an ongoing problem of generally mistrusting each and everyone.
This will only change with a certain amount of new members who see things differently and who are willing to also show some commitment on the level of organisation.

Thanks for taking some time to browse the forum and for letting everyone know what you think.

There is a number of EBTors who like to scrutinize suspicious or unusual patterns. This work is very useful, because it keeps the database as clean as possible, and it's only possible just because some of the EBTors enjoy doing it. I take pleasure in different chores here, but I appreciate the work of fellow EBTors who take pleasure in playing detective/policeman. Unfortunately, as in any detective/police work, some of them are indeed overzealous.

I don't think that, as Totes Gras puts it, "EBT has had an ongoing problem of generally mistrusting each and everyone" — but I do think that this applies to a small bunch of the self-entitled Cleaning Ladies or wannabe cleaning ladies. I have not memorized who they are, and I actually do not care much, but I believe it's just a small subset. (By the way, I have no idea if scrtr is one of them, and I am not at all implying it.)

If some day any of these overzealous fellow EBTors finds one of my hits suspicious, well, OK, I guess it's actually their problem, not mine. And I will be glad to explain the circumstances of the hit if needed. (I have had quite a few hits that actually needed moderation, but I was always the one to ask for moderation.)

So, all in all, I'm sorry if your hit has been considered suspicious, and I'm glad you did the right thing: complaining about it and explaining it. Now, please don't take it too personally. The majority of EBTors give everyone the benefit of doubt, even when unusual patterns arise. And of course it's great to have lucky EBTors among us! Particularly in France, where the lack of active EBTors until a month ago had made French EBTors quite unlucky, generally speaking.

Keep registering your banknotes! And maybe you want to indulge in some of the many games that EBTors play as a side-hobby (short code bingos, hunting for geo regions, entry times bingos, etc.; you'll find them in the forums of different languages).

A hit "at first shot" is always possible. Think i had 2 or 3 meanwile.
The chance is close to the hit-probability in your area.
For France it should be 1/500 - 1/1000.
