:idea: Another idea ;

Maybe it is possible to add the number of "hits" of each user net to the "number of notes" he entered.8)

Like this :
# |nickname|number of notes|number of hits
1 :flag-nl: ans 159974 - 407

Well, the aim of the site is to get hits...

That's exactly why I still think the 'Interesting Hits' should be linked directly in the menu and not behind 'Statistics'.

hit message

Post by peter_at »

I suggest to change the hit message for automoderated hits. Maybe something like this:

Code: Select all

Bill was entered and is an (uninteresting) hit ! Click here to view the report
I am usually quite excited if I read the hit message and I click immediately at the hit report. It was quite disappointing when I realised that my note had been entered just a few hours ago. That's why I think that you should see immediately whether your note is an interesting or uninteresting hit.

Wouldn't it be a nice idea to make an extra map :
in addition to map with all the users : a map with the nowadays active users ?

show number of notes per hit in page sumary

Post by ensonic »

one thing (which is a simple change) I'd like to see, is that in the box on the upper right corner, it shows bills_entered/interesting_hits.
The value would give one a idea how many bills need to be entered before one (statistically) get a hit.

Apart I wonder if anyone is watching it over the time. Does it rise or fall?
Means is it now easier or harder to get a hit, than one year ago?

It's getting easier and easier... The average hitratio was about 1400 a year ago, now you only need about 500 bills on average to get a hit :D
Niet meer zo fanatiek als ooit maar is nu al voor het 8ste jaar aan het invoeren... Overigens is een klein deel van mijn biljetten gestempeld met de ebt url

The hitratios are _very_ different in different states. In Finland the hitratio is some 1:70, while in some other states it's about 1:700 or even 1:7000.
So, there's no number that could be shown to all people, because different people live in different places.

However, I would like to see a hitratio-map :)
So, take the amount of notes entered in a dot and divide it with the amount of hits with the notes entered in that dot.

Wow, what a great idea! Sorry not to add anything, I just felt this urge to applaud. :D

 I don't know if it have already been discussed, but I think it would be a good way for our future press actions to ask new users "how did they know the site ?" with a scroll menu in the registration page.

Often I see users entering notes one after the other (e.g. w/o using the advanced form) although it is the same ZIP code and the users have entered more than 50 notes. It is of course possible that they prefere to use the simple form, but I guess they just didn't notice the not very obvious change that occured after they passed the 50 notes limit. I think it might be a good idea to tell the user on the simple form that they have this new possibility now, it would certainly make it easier for 50+ newbies to enter notes and thus may result in increased amount of notes entered.

...or just set this new entry form as default for users with 50+ notes.

When i am logged in to put banknotes into EBT and click on my account details; i get 3 maps. There are maps of Europe and the world where i have entered my banknotes and 1 map with lines to show all my hits.

Is it not possible to get (a more clear) map of your own country of where i was? How many people have entered banknotes outside Europe? Maybe 0,001 %. Can i get the choice of which map i want to see?

With about 20 banknotes rightly placed in the Netherlands; my own country is almost not viewable anymore. I have 5 areas to visit (Venray, Wieringerwerf, Emmeloord, Cadzand en Hulst) and than the Netherlands is fully covered. So that just takes 5 banknotes.

While i am at it. Is it also not possible to get a better map of my hits. All my hits go mainly southwards to the belgium border and it is all black there. Can international hit not get a different colour, than natonal hits? Only the west and the southeast still viewable, because there are no hits at present time. Furthermore can you add our islands in the north of the country to the map.

Westinghouse has made a good idea. Me, I do very most of my tracking around Wiesbaden and 70 kilometers around. It lacks indeed information if I see how very few dots I have on my map.

I remember that there have been visions of zoomable maps etc. but those take very much effort to implement so we must be patient. All kinds of goodies are about to happen within time.

I have a suggestion concerning the "maps" in the statistics section - for many countries (e.g. the netherlands, belgium, austria, finland and germany) there is hardly any information in the maps due to the mass of arrows.

Thus, I suggest to replace these single-hit arrows to arrows which represent the number of hits between the different countries - For expample using a similar colour scheme like the hit maps, so if there are many hits from the netherland to belgium, the (single) arrow would be red, and only few hits from the netherlands lets say to estonia, so this arrow whould be blue.
I think, there would be much more information to get from those maps!

A different scheme from colours would be the thickness of the arrows, but I guess then the information in the maps would be harder to get.
