With 4 hits after just 814 notes you should have one of the happiest faces around!!aplfi wrote:Update 814:4~204/hitaplfi wrote:431:4~108 notes/hit
I hope it's not going down but I'm afraid it is. I've been too lucky.
640:4= 160 notes/hit

Recently I had a discussion with a very nice Turkish gentleman who explained to me that you cán in fact divide by zero. The fact that pocket calculators and computers aren't able to comprehend only proves that the human brain is much more sophisticated.nodisch18 wrote:2111/0= error....
I'll try to reproduce his story:
What happens when you divide 100 by 10? You get 10.
What happens when you divide 100 by 1? You get 100.
What happens when you divide 100 by 0,1? You get 1.000.
What happens when you divide 100 by 0,01? You get 10.000.
So the smaller the numer you divide by, the larger the result.
"the smaller the number" can be replaced by: closer to zero. So when your divider is infinitely small, the result will be infinitely large and dividing by zero itself would result in infinity.
So nodisch18, your hit-ratio is 2111/0=infinity
(not that I think that's going to cheer you up...)

I don't think that that turkish gentleman is right.
Try to say the see it this way:
When you have a number (in this case the amount of notes) and you are going to divide it (in
hits) you are going to try to give each hit its own fare portion of notes. Since there are no hits to give each their fare portion of notes. It is impossible to divide the amount of bills.

But infinity is not a number, and not even a result that is good for any further (mathematical) use:
Suppose infinity:= 1/0 were a number. Then we have
0 * infty = 0 * (1/0) = 1
hence
1 = 0 * infty = (0 + 0) * infty = 0*infty + 0*infty = 1 + 1 = 2.
But, believe me, not even mathematicians can give any sort of sense to the equation 1=2. (Also they are able to give a reasonable interpretation of +1=-1, which is perfectly true in a field with characteristic 2.)

Just joking but of course when you get 4 hits with 400 notes and after that you enter another 400 notes and don't get hits at all you start looking unhappy. You are absolutely right that I'm still one of the luckiest persons. But when you get a lot with small amount you start expecting allways more and more. I think that is just the way human mind works.
But hits or no, I'll keep entering notes. This is one of the best hobbies I know.
Dividing by 0 is impossible, because the answer can be +infinity or -infinity.Ganymede wrote:Recently I had a discussion with a very nice Turkish gentleman who explained to me that you cán in fact divide by zero. That depends on from which side you approach 0: from the positive side
the answer is +infinity, an from the negative side it is -infinity. Try to draw
the graph of y = 1/x.
