As long as we are able to post without logging in this is going to be the reality every now and then. I would say make a sort of guestbook inside the site, and stop allowing users(or bots) to post without logging in.
Great, then we'd need to clean up the spam from EBT as well. Forcing people to log in to post their message does not eliminate the problem, the spambots can create accounts as well. How about just ignoring the spam until it gets deleted by the moderators/admins?

No it doesn't eliminate the problem, but i'm sure it makes the problem less big. I'm on several phpBB boards but this one is the one with the biggest spam-problem, it's the only one where posting is allowed without logged in.
Ignoring spam until it gets deleted doesn't solve the problem either now does it?
I don't really mind ignoring it, but im certain lot's of people find it quite disturbing, thus i try to find a sollution instead of doing nothing, therefore: don't see it as an attack or just moaning. it's just feedback.
About the guest book thingy: Spam bots tend to concentrate on forums, rather then guest books. On a forum spam is directly visible for lot's of people. in guest books the spam will go to second page (if not deleted) quite fast because lot's of messages will be posted , and result in people not seeing it any more. In other words. There is not much spam on guest books because it's just not that profitable for the spam-bot-makers.

Just one question: These spam messages started to appear many times in the forum when the fakers where cleaned from the database. It's possible to verify the IP from the messages and the IP from users who were cleaned? Probably is someone that was polluting the database and now is polluting our forum.

No, these don't appear to be related. This is just spam. Today's spam originated from Russia, Ukraine, British Virgin Islands, China, ..., while the EBT users were connecting from their native countries.

Can someone please be so kind and delete this porno and vagina spam threads? They are annoying and nobody is able to find the real important topics in these forums.
edit:
I just saw there are many registered Spambots in this Forum. So locking the guest-write-function won't work in this case. Seems to be a security hole somewhere in phpBB3, I think.

Sigh.. No, it's not a security hole, just spam.

Since beginning of February, there has been a considerable increase in spam bot activity from Russia, Ukraine etc.. We have put some extra measures in place to cope with this increase. We will continue to monitor the situation and apply new measures when required.
I thank you again for your patience and please continue to report spam posts if you see one, so that moderators can act on it.
Greetzz,
Craco

Please use the 'report this post' button

to report SPAM messages to the moderators. This will enable us to remove such messages a.s.a.p.
