From this page http://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/euro/pro ... ex.en.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it seems the new :note-20: :flag-eu: notes quantities were distributed among european countries in 2014. Based on this information there should be:

- :note-20: :flag-eu: U/U (FR) : check!
- :note-20: :flag-eu: S/S (IT) : check!
- :note-20: :flag-eu: N/N (AT) : check!
- :note-20: :flag-eu: M/M (PT) : to be seen
- :note-20: :flag-eu: V/V (ES) : to be seen
- :note-20: :flag-eu: ?/? (DE) : to be seen - printer(s) could be R, P, X, E, H and/or J based on information given in the TED database

If you need to post somewhere the image of the new 20 Euro bill, what about advertising EBT at the same time? :wink:

Don't forget printer code W.

I don't believe in :note-20: from De La Rue for Germany at all.
Can you give the source (e.g. website) for your statement?

Note sure about W printer code. Only Giesecke & Devrient GmbH in München (printer code X) appears in the contract award.

You'll find more information about the bidding process launched by the national bank of Germany in 2013 here:

- contract notice in May 2013: http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE ... ML&tabId=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
- contract award in December 2013: http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE ... =0&tabId=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

From what I have understood, it's an "open contract". Five printers have been chosen for 4 years and the national bank of Germany may (or may not) order them to print banknotes depending on quantities settled by the ECB.

You seem to be confusing old ("short codes") and new printer codes.

German printer codes are now R, W and X. Official source here. Those are the only printing works that can print DE notes, so we are to expect one or more of these (apart from the others you mentioned):
:note-20: R/R
:note-20: W/W
:note-20: X/X

I'm afraid I don't know what is the TED database you referred to.

Guess that the address listed in that Tenders Diary refers to the seat of the company, not necessarily to where the notes are printed. Giesecke & Devrient for example currently has two locations, Munich and Leipzig. The seat will continue to be Munich, but all G&D euro notes will be printed in Leipzig as from some date (TBA) later this year ...

No problem ;)

:flag-de: DE is one of the few countries to launch a bidding process for printing its share of euro banknotes. A 4-year open contract has been noticed by the Bundesbank then awarded in 2013 and all the details are given in the TED database which is publicly accessible to everyone. Five printing companies have been selected during the process. They may or may not get real work though, depending on the contract form, quantities, and some other considerations. So we may see X/X (and maybe W/W), E/E, R/R, P/P, H/H and/or J/J Europa banknotes printed for DE.

:flag-fr: FR, :flag-be: BE, :flag-it: IT, :flag-pt: PT, :flag-es: ES, :flag-at: AT, :flag-ie: IE and :flag-gr: GR national banks are using their own public printing works, avoiding the need for a bidding process. The Europa notes are then U/U, Z/Z, S/S, M/M, V/V, N/N, T/T and Y/Y, respectively.

"Small" countries ( :flag-nl: NL, :flag-fi: FI, :flag-lu: LU, :flag-cy: CY, :flag-ee: EE, :flag-mt: MT, :flag-si: SI and :flag-sk: SK -- known as JET, joint european tender) have grouped and launched their own bidding process one year prior to Germany. The same five printers than Germany have been chosen in 2012 and also for 4 years.

I don't know how :flag-lv: LV national bank will print its share of :note-50: :flag-eu: banknotes attributed by the ECB recently. I guess they should join with the JET to decrease printing costs but I don't know if that's juridically possible.

That's clearly possible ;)

Thank you. :)

But what is this? Spain should print notes for the national bank of Belgium? If I am right... (from 05/08/2014)
