Remember to include Joensuu (in Eastern-Finland) to your trip. Here we have the beautiful Koli's nature park for example. 8)

It's so boring in those major cities (Helsinki, Tampere...) because cities are pretty much the same everywhere. :?
Living away from Euro zone in the beautiful Vancouver, Canada since January 2012. Experiences and stories of living in here can be found in here (in Finnish).

I agree. You people should choose Lapland (e.g. Rovaniemi or even farther north). It would be more exotic than the southern Finland. And why not organize a bus trip to the Nordkapp (North Cape)?

Fons, you've been added to the list, and @ Mr Euro, it's no voting yet, it's just a small preview of the reactions untill now!

I don't agree with Klazu; "because cities are pretty much the same everywhere." We have much different places to see nearby Tampere...
But if you are ready and able to arrange something in northern or eastern Finland it is more than OK. I'll take part if possible

Helsinki should be a perfect place for EBTM 2005! I would like to visit Finland too in 2005, so  . Please organise a meeting there :P (and August is O.K.!)

Amsterdam or Leiden 2006?

I would also give preferance to Finland instead of Netherlands. And if it would be done in Northern Finland I will certainly come, too. (If I get the necessary leave)

Yes, listen to that Mr Euro guy, he has loads of experience in organizing EBTMs. Let's not discuss whether individual users can attend the meeting or not, the time for that discussion will come but its time is not now. I'm just trying to keep the signal/noise ratio at reasonable levels..

Unfortunately nobody has (yet?) volunteered to organize a meeting in Northern Finland, so unless someone steps in and volunteers, we'll have to rule out that possibility.

Seriously now, we'll need to gather a list of organizers who would be willing to organize a meeting in/near their home town. If you feel you can't do it by yourself, look around and try to find someone near you who might be willing to assist. We'll probably start making the decisions in late December, and it'd be nice to have a good list of possible locations by then. When Mr Euro posted his initial message about EBTM04 on January 10th, the location had already been chosen. This means we'd better have the final decision about the place in mid-January if we arrange things using the same time frame.

Sure they're different, but (for example) Barcelona would be vastly different from the two, don't you think?

For the record, Helsinki will probably be quite crowded in early August, because the 10th IAAF World Championships in Athletics will be held here between 6 - 14 August.

5000 - 20000 foreign tourists are expected to visit Helsinki during the event, so the hotels and such will probably be all reserved. I just hope they'll use lots of cash

Let's hope a place and date will be set as quickly as possible, because holidays have to be set at work.
And if it turns out to be the Netherlands, I need to book a (another) summer holiday as well - in january.
Just to say that could be conveniant for some people to know as soon as possible a place & date. And don't be scared of organising it: it's hard to do it alone, but with a little help from other people from your town...

If one day we meet in Germany... it's possible to visit the Eurotower (seal the European Central Bank).
:-)

It's just an idea, in the air...

I would be glad to visit Finland for the first time. I just need to find a cheap flight from Paris to the place we choose. Cheap because I would have to buy a ticket from Canada to the EU... and I only have one week or two for the summer 2005.

The beginning of August seams to be the best period for everyone, right?

From my side, yes, but we certainly need the organizers. Only hope that decision especially about the date can be taken soon. Doesn't take long and I must hand in my holiday planning in the company for this year...
