Because I already put some effort to write this, I may as well publish it here. So this is how my weekend trip to Frankfurt am Main went:
We took a
hotel room in Mainz, where we spent Thursday. It's a nice city and too bad we hadn't time to visit the nearby Wiesbaden (would have liked to get some notes in there!). On Friday we took a train to Frankfurt Hbf. The Hbf is a huge place! Perhaps the largest train station I have ever been in (and I have been in cities like Rome)! The first hour we spent walking in the centrum and looking the skyscrapers amazed. I really like them and Frankfurt has a feeling of a big metropolis!
At ten O'clock I took U1 to visit Bundesbank, which I tought was the ugly building near Europatower. Well it turned out it wasn't, but I got some nice pictures of the Europatower. Then I walked to end station on U1 and drove with it to Nordwestzentrum. There I changed
money and took the U-bahn to centrum. In centrum I tried to look for the
bank where user taucher were supposed to meet me. I finally found the place, but didn't meet with taucher because of the problems with my schedule. I also changed some money at the near-by
Commerzbank.
After I had all my money (some 1100€) in 5€ we started the sightseeing. We went up to the roof of Galeria Kaufhof to see the skyline. Then we walked to the Commerzbank Tower
lobby. It was amazing to see through the whole building! After that we walked to see the ECB's huge €-sign. After that followed the most anticipated part. We went to the
Main Tower to see the city from the heights. Up there in the 57th floor it was amazing! We spent there some 20min looking around us. Frankfurt looked like a city with more than 1 000 000 people!
After that we took an U-bahn to university campus in Bockenheim. The
mensa building was ugly (and the toilets terrible!). We walked to the Messe Centre and took a tram to
Süd bf. Just for fun. There we took tram 14, which gave us the best look at the skyline from the bridge over Main. We then waited for it to get dark and once more rode the 14 line to see everything in the lights. Amazing. After that we returned to Mainz, or at least we tried (we had small problems with finding the mysterious platform 103 at first), by train.
On Saturday we spend time mostly wandering in the same places. In the morning we spend maybe two hours at the
airport just seeing places there. Then we headed back to the Centrum. We saw the Dom and the Oldtown. At 15 O'clock we took an ICE back to Dortmund. There was some incredible change and the train departed from the Süd Bf. Luckily we made it there just in time.
Frankfurt was a very nice city! The tall buildings are so sweet and the city seemed to be alive every day. It was a good trip although we were exhausted when we got back to home. Well not so exhausted, that I wouldn't have power to enter the notes I had gathered.

I think I saw a huge part of the Frankfurt and I managed to get notes from in total six different post code areas.

With some 340 notes I got no hits, but that's OK. The trip was worth it!
