X/X is most likely printed. X/XZ (!) in fact. Jarči has noticed this
on the official website for the new euro banknotes (
Our Money) and announced his finding on Facebook.

Can it be a printing test?

About the feelable lines on the edges:

1x26 lines = 26 (per side)

2*12 lines = 24 (per side)

7+8+7 lines= 22 (per side)

Will they have 20 lines per side?

Wow, well spotted!
4*5 lines, most likely, then.
And

3+3*4+3 lines = 18

2+4*3+2 lines = 16

7*2 lines = 14

I'm "on the road" at the moment, but I used Norwegian's free airplane wifi to make the Y/Y changes this morning, but I didn't have time to write this message until now (this time using the wifi at MS Midnatsol).

More or less. If I'm right, they were found in Spain at the beginnig of 2015/end 2014. So they are probably more new than old

.
Today, I visited the ECB exhibition "The New Face of the Euro" in

Osnabrück (last day of the exhibition over there). There, they displayed a note of each Europa-series denomination, so a

,

and

. While 5€ and 10€ are known for a while, I won't mention them.
But the N007-shortcode of the Europa-

wasn't mentioned in this thread as far as I know. That should mean, that there are quite a lot of Austrian notes to be brought in circulation.

Maybe, but with the 2013/14

and

, Austria reached already N017, without actually meaning that all 17 were used, and in both cases I am not sure that they even reached NB..

In motorway AP-7, at La Roca del Vallès toll station, there are automated machines that give 5ers for change. Sometimes the banknotes are brand new. Last week I used a 50er to pay for an 85¢ toll...

. The machine gave me back 9 V008/VB*** sequential bills.

Some useful information in a recent french article:
- Banque de France (

U/U) began production of the new

Europa notes as early as Spring 2014
- they also have been selected as a pilot printer to do some test printing of the new

series (a "small" batch of 20 millions banknotes) which is due in 2016 (probably end of the year but that's only my opinion)
This confirms the fact that there's approximately a year and a half between the start of the process, typically April/May/June, and the series' release to the public, typically November of the following year.
More importantly,
the ECB has published banknotes production figures for 2016!
- no

,

and

this time
-

: four usual countries (

FR,

IE,

GR,

ES) for a billion notes
-

: only

FR for 500 millions notes
-

: the same 15 countries as in 2015, with

Lithuania added, for a total of 4.7 billion notes -- that's a lot more than the 2015 production (2.5 billion notes)
- a serie of 176 millions

notes attributed to

AT. Will it be the new

?
