Right now I'm drinking a delicious ice-cold Palm Beer. Hmm...lovely. That's what I needed after a day of hard working. No, I'm not a alcoholic

I don't care what kind of brand it is. I think that any beer is drinkable. Remember that beer in the United States is to be consumped in a paper bag covering the bottle.

Usually the stuff they drink in paper bags is malt liquor in 40oz bottle (forties). Vile stuff altogether!

No, the paper bag is to conseal the bottle, otherwise one get a ticket/fine. I haven't tasted any stonger stuff than 5 %. In Amsterdam there are areas one can get a fine if one is drinking a beer. One of that areas is behind teh Royal Palace at the Dam in Amsterdam.

I've drank Stiegl and found it quite good. Although I liked some beer with a blue label even better :)

Maybe it was "Puntigamer" or "Zipfer"?

Nope. I don't remember either the name. But I checked from the google image search for those names and neither of the labels looked familiar.

Just go to the squat-like thing next to the Danube canal in Wien. I think there's a tram terminal very nearby. They sell the beer there :)

I know Stiegl as well. Had quite many of those in Austria last summer. And also Gösser and some Eggenberg or was it Schloss Eggenberg. See picture.

Found it now: Wieselburger Bier
(although I don't remember if it was the "gold" one or not)
I remember that one tasted quite good. I think I drank two bottles of it. I don't know much about Stiegl, because I didn't drink a whole bottle of it, just a sip from someone's glass.

And BTW, although some people here say Stella Artois is good, I must say it really was a disappointment for me. Tasted pretty Finnish to me. So, definitely not worth more than 3€/0.5l. (I had to pay 4,70€ for it)
Now I know one more beer I most likely will never buy.

Well.. Actually the beer seems to be in the same prices here and in your bar.
In Finland a local beer is normally some 3€/0,5l, which exactly the same as 1,50€/0,25l.
The only problem is, our local beer is a lot worse than yours.

Yeah, Stiegl is very good, had more than a few in Salzburg!
Gösser is pretty bad I think. Wieselburger is quite good.
My favourite though has to be Murauer ! Turn those speakers way up when clicking on the link for some spectacularly cheesy music! DOn't let that put you off though - it's a very good beer.

I'm very pleased, that you know really damn much about austrian beers! (Nearly more than other austrians )

I have to say, Stiegl is a very patriotic beer! Really everybody in that region drinks that beer. In other parts of Austria, peolpe are not so... And it's the biggest private brewery in Austria!

Wieselburger, the brewery is 30 km away from my home! But i'm not a real "fanatic"...
