Could there be a bug in some system (maybe WAP) ?
Most of the examples of "fake" countries show users with a pretty solid profile. Couple of thousands of notes entered, decent hit ratio. It doesn't make sense that all of a sudden all these users decide to start faking.

Since the countries are ascending one by one, this was also my first idea.

could be, but it's strange they don't edit their bill !!
that is one more reason to keep the bill alife and only correct the country with an appropriate tool

This case was interesting, just look at the timestamps:

You can't enter notes from three different countries (Bangladesh, Barbados, Belgium) within one second using only the web interface. Similar things are happening with daro.

They're both using the EBT API for entering the notes, with some unknown device/software (the logs don't tell). It's not WAP though, it'd look different.

I think I'll send them a message and ask for clarification.

Hi,
I just received a mail saying my name was mentioned in this thread. After reading the thread I checked my profile and my entered bills and it's total mess. 8O I used Android program EuroBillTracker to record and submit the notes ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... mFja2VyIl0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ). It's bug in the program... Will correct the country to Slovenia of each entered note

Thanks for the valuable info, daro. Please note that program is made by a 3rd party, we don't have any control over it.

That said, this is freaking scary. I installed it and tried to enter a few notes to my test account. As I figured the problem was likely with the stored notes function, I tried storing a few, using Madrid/Spain as my location. On the third note I pressed the Send button, which sent the third note I was entering to EBT. When I went back to the "examine stored notes" (or whatever the translation is) page, I saw that there were two notes in queue. It didn't show where those notes were entered, only the denomination, serial number and printer code. So I proceeded to submit those two stored notes to EBT and I ended up with notes entered from Netherlands and Albania   I only saw the incorrect countries when I logged in to EBT using a browser and had a look at my notes. At no time during the time I used the app I saw any reference to Netherlands or Albania. My testing was done on a Samsung Galaxy S II, for what it's worth.

This is .. unacceptable.

For everyone: If you have entered notes with the EuroBillTracker Android app (by Massilia Dev), please check that your notes have the correct country. If the country is incorrect, you can change it yourself via the Edit link in your note listing, or you can file a support request to have those changed.

Might it be worth it to make a news post about this for the main EBT-site for users of that app that don't visit the forum?

I'll do that once there's a fixed version of the app. I've already sent an email to the developer asking for this bug to be fixed. I did tweet about the problem last night, so there is some sort of an announcement already.

Why not publish the news now? My thinking is that I'd rather encourage people to upgrade (or install) such useful apps, instead of telling people to stop using that app. If a fixed version is not released in the next few days, I may need to revise my thinking, though..

Alright, a new fixed version of the app has now made an appearance on Google Play. We just tested the new version with BaliBennie and it seems to work now. Notes that were stored in the old version were transmitted properly to EBT with the new version. I tweeted about the new version and also wrote a news item on EBT's front page. The old version of the app is now blocked and it can no longer be used for entering notes. This should greatly reduce the number of new Albanian note entries.

Thanks to the app developer for fixing the problem quickly :)

I've sent a message to the user formerly known as beaweb to change the default country to something more appropriate.
I think is better resend the message, we don't want to go down to her level and move all in Germany.

I honestly don't think Sylvie_from_Rome would care about that at all. The only effect of that would be making some other Germans angry, accomplishing nothing. Two wrongs don't make a right.
