Seems logical. I wouldn't call it a surprise.

It seems that the holographic patch on the first series €50 will be replaced by a holographic foil strip on the Europa €50. And maybe on the €100 and €200, too.

I wonder if the new

will finally have the Croatian abbreviation for ECB (ESB in Croatian) because it's really time to include it, 3 years after joining

We've briefly discussed that in the past, I think. We shall see what happens, but I'd say it's not likely. Making a change - however minor - to a common feature on every note has not happened before (ie. it is unlikely to have one acronym list on the

and a different list on every other). Wait and see, I guess!

I do not expect to see "ESB" on the new €50 notes either. But it is somewhat strange: In the Europa series, every denomination has a different copyright date: €5 2013, €10 2014, €20 2015 ... So that can obviously be adapted while the ECB language versions cannot? Hmm.

I believe that the ECB has decided to postpone the addition of ESB to the next series.

Nothing yet on the ECB website about the new

. It's already over 2 pm CET. It's odd that there isn't even a time for the event - or if there is, it is very well hidden or I'm just blind

And at least the introductory video ends with the date when it will be released to circulation: April 4th, 2017.

BTW, you seem to have bet on the wrong horse: the
ESB is there on the new

.

Also the pattern of the raised print is not what was expected on the forum...
I can count 32 stripes, is that right?
Perhaps having 4 groups of 5 stripes was not optimal for blind people.

If you want a serial number,
here is one.

(Don't blame me, it's public ...)

My personal opinion about the design is that the new one looks better than the old one. I have never liked the

which looks rather dull and blunt. I was hoping that the update brings something better, and I wasn't disappointed. But this is of course a matter of personal taste.
